I went to dinner tonight in West Hollywood with my girlfriend. After dinner we come back and I give the guy my Tix. They cant find my keys for 20 min. Finally they tell me to go to the place that I had reservations for at this club and they will call me. I am so pissed at this point I go and decide after 20 min I dont have the mentality to be out so I go back to the place....

They STILL have not found the key. I have the valet driver drop me off at this club Hyde on sunset and I just ended up leaving and going home. So here I am at home now with no car. They called me at 2:45 am to tell me to rent a car and send them the bill. I have nothing now and dont see getting my car back till end of next week cause Mercedes has to cut a new key.

What do you guys suggest I do and request. I lost my table at the club in addition was suppose to go to Santa Barbara tomorrow morning with my girlfriend. All this is gone.

    HELP and ADVICE guys

***** happens. Ask for cost of the key and forgive the guy. It ain't the end of the world. Someday something bad will happen to you and you will look back at being pissed off about this and wonder why you wasted the energy.

What happened to the spare set anyway. Is it possible he isn't the only one who lost some keys?

change the locks on the car and get new keys, and give the bill to the resturant. You don't know if someone purposely "lost" your keys.

I've seen this happen at work. If the employee was like you said(apologetic and such), then just have the company cover the cost of the rental, replacement key, and funds lost from deposits or reservations.....If the kid was a prick about it, then I can see raising a fuss.

Similar thing happened to a friend of mine when we were out a couple of years ago. We requested that they show us the car, spoke to the manager & got a report. They rented him another vehicle and paid the cost for replacing the key.

The next day when they still did not find the keys, he requested that the car be towed to the dealership until the new key could be obtained (that way the car was not just sitting downtown, and just in case the key was "found" someone would not be tempted to take the car out).

IIRC his spare key was out of town with his wife.

This shht happens. Could have been worse my friend.

I suggest checking on the car also, if you have not already.

You only had one key? Not a good idea........

It is a company car..along with the 360, Gallardo, and Maybach I have on certain days.

We do not have an extra key. Mercedes said the earliest would be Thursday of next week.

Believe me this is the TRUTH!!

And I too find it hard to believe that you cant get the secound set I know came with the car, or that this is your only car. You must have a personal car.

And, yea, go rent a shelby cobra or something fun and have them cover it!!!

So? They should cover a comprable car. And check Hertz. They rent the cobra in West Palm Beach. Might have a few there and they are like $1k a week.

Just a thought. If you're talking about $3K for a week's rental plus all the expenses with a new key or replacing the locks, possibly pushing the expenses up to $5K, you may want to get the circumstances and their reimbursement pledge in writing. That's probably much more than they expect.

Imagine you get the key re-cut, you drive the car away Thursday and you send them the bill for everything after that. "What's this bill for? We never lost your key. You were too drunk to drive home and left the car here".

Antony, what a drag. Do you have the spare key? You should almost try and have them comp you a table too, thats a big deal to lose your table at Hyde. Definitely don't let this down, there should be no argument on their end..

sh it happens make them pay for a similar rental, free dinner, replacement key and get over it.
The guys life is probably hard enough without some stuck up owner not being able to get his table at some club and making a big stink out of it and potentially getting the guy fired(if he hasn't been already). There has to be something else you could worry about then this.

Yes, this is a great idea! If I had done that when my car was stolen by Valets, I would not have had the trouble I did!!!

    Ok here is the deal:

I meet with the guy today. I realized the company is making the guy pay for it out of his own pocket. When we went to pay for a C320 for 1k a week His card got declined. I told him to forget everything and just leave the car there. If I was to sue the company he would get fired and I cant make him pay for it cause it was a mistake.

I will suck it up and just live a few days without it. I want good karma..lol

    He is a nice guy

I cant believe that the company will make its employees pay for it. Crazy, I thought the company would be liable for its employee's mishaps.

You're a nice guy for doing that.

But I have to wonder about the valet company. Don't they have liability insurance? If a car got dinged or scratched, would they make the valet pay for those repairs too?

He stated that the valet company has a liability release for there people and they get to run each stand. I will let him pay for the key. He does not have the money to pay for the inconvenience nor the rental for a week. I had to cancel a trip to Santa Barbara with the girlfriend.

    Rent a S500 for one week- $2300
Cost of not having a car- $couple hundred bucks
    cancel tables- $1200

The hell im going through- priceless
