I invite you all to read my thread "chronicles of Barron" to see what the valet did to my car. It went over 6k and in hindsight I should've went for more

I do not understand wanting to valet, it is not if, only when, damage is going to take place. I leave the Ferrari at home and take my truck to the restauant, city driving and parking a Ferrari is no fun at all. I have never understood taking a Ferrari to dinner, it does not eat (other than $$$ for service; ).

There is a great story of a couple of guys here in Houston who owned the same model Ferrari and were at the Palm restaurant with a bunch of us one evening. They parked with the valet. One left before the other. Yep you guessed it he was given the wrong car. He was a couple of miles down the road before he realized the mistake. It was priceless.

A lawyer friend of mine suggested keeping copies of disclaimers in your glove box. You would ask the valet to sign it, and it basically holds him and his company responsible for any damage. He of course, will claim he's not authorized to sign it, and this will result in an automatic self-park for you.

Agreed. Scottsdale so wants to be California, and it's becoming an epidemic here. Valet parking is anathema to any self-respecting Zonie.

I use valet becus there is no place to park in Aspen. You can take the free shuttle (bus) but it's a block or three to the restaurant. But l never take the Fcar.

It was our Anniversary last night. It was raining so we drove. Valet is covered parking. Never got a drop on us. Wife could wear heels without issue. The parking was free with validation. Well worth the $20 tip.

Back in the day (late 70's) when the Sultan of Brunei was a regular visitor to London's Casinos ,he regularly rolled up with his entourage with a very tasty collection of cars...which were left double parked right outside blocking most of Piccadilly.Ferrari/Aston/Bentley/Jags etc all virtually brand new.He would drop +/- $1 million a night at the tables...then win or lose always gave a very good tip to the guys looking after the cars.

The 5/6 car jockeys's sprang into action ,grabbed which ever car they fancied to 'park 'it.However as parking right outside was very limited they 'had' to head off down to Hyde Park corner,up Park Lane to Marble Arch then back down Park lane then around Hyde Park corner {again}....down towards Buckingham Palace ,then back up to Trafalgar Square and finally return to the underground parking for the Ritz Hotel/Casino...

This was just the Club Circuit :) which could be extended onto the full GP 'track' running down to Big Ben then alongside the river Thames etc etc :)

Lot's of fun, never saw any car damaged, although one guy managed to spin a V8 Aston on Hyde Park corner in the wet without hitting anything.

No i never valet my 308..no way!!!!

Yer... then when we went down to the staff canteen around midnight (Ritz Casino) for our free steak n chips, we had to put up with some pretty tasty croupiers also having their break. All in all not a bad gig:)

This was only a part time night job though, had to be back at 'work' by 7am the next day.Just to fund a bit of F Ford racing.

Well last night we went to Fleming's in the Domain and I drove through the side street and saw a couple good spots in front of the restaurant and decided to give the guy $20 and ask to park it myself. He said sure, no problem, moved the posts for me and I got an easy to get into spot. I go in the restaurant and my wife is at the hostess stand and says, how embarrassing. I just ignored her.

I hope so mate, I usually put life on hold for a bit, go nuts, and worry about it again when I arrive home, considerably poorer, but with some more stories for Savannah when I'm on my last legs! Normally I take these trips in my stride, but life's been that tough the last few months I am absolutely gagging to get there and play!

When I was new to the "Scene" of parking some of my exotic cars valet style.. The first this I did was ask, "Can you park it in front" He quickly responded after looking around, I usually get tipped $20.00 for that. I didn't know whether to ask for a manager and ***** him out for assuming his tip, or join the club.

I Joined the club and haven't looked back since.

Experienced Valet will know and remember you from the first time you slip them a $20.00, Then I park my own car, and take the keys every time.

Its either that, or let them take it up in a parking garage somewhere!

I use the valet when it's convenient to do so. But it stays up front. I won't let them take it to the garage or a remote spot. Usually they want you up front anyway. Looks better for the restaurant, business, etc.

Every valet person had graciously always given the option to park it in front of the establishment entrance myself, the most recent being the Rosewood on Sand Hill.

I would think this would be even more so with the much more expensive models.
