Some valet guys have a long line of regular customers who tip them $50 just to have the car out front, they wont even consider parking yours up front if they know that thier regular customer is coming out, in many cases they get a phone call to let them know. They would rather park up front an ugly and cheap car if they know that they are making a lot of $ for sure than to park an exotic and get a crappy $10 tip. Also sometimes they give the excuse that they need the keys by regulations, lets say theres a fire or some situation where your car must be moved and blah blah blah. The only way to leave a car with the valet is to be "friends" of the valet and to tip at least $50. And remember to take your keys anyway.

Rather than tipping $50, how about leaving the F car at home safely tucked in its garage. Meanwhile you go for a night on the town in your POS car that you can park in BFE or give to the valet without a care in the world. The F car is safe and you have peace of mind. Unless you really just have money to burn. Is it just me who thinks spending $50 on a valet is just crazy to feed you ego?

To put it another way. You already HAVE the F-car. Do you really feel like you need to spend $50 just to have people watch you get out of it?

Its a matter of principles, a freaking valet parker isn't worth the $50 bucks, how much $ is the cook at the restaurant that you are going making an hour, I rest my case.

No body should ever have the keys to your F-car unsupervised!!! If you are at dinner at a nice place they know they have at least two hours to "have some fun" at your expense. You should always pay to park it upfront. If they do not like it, move on. I went to dinner and the up front spot was taken by on new 430. I went some place else and went back another night when my car would right our front.

    and another.....

    few nights ago, i saw a kid 18 in side a lambo "parking it"....(parking it=driving down i-95 YES i-95.)

i thought wow nice car, im going that way anyways so i watched it....pulled up (after driving it WAY to hard, thought he was gona crash) and got out was this 18 or so kid, with the little Valet name on his shirt. and hands the keys over to the owner. i wish i caught up with the guy to tell him..... but there was no way i could get to him.

    be careful.

Few weeks ago I saw a valet guy for the House of Blues here in Chicago shoot across the street in the biggest Dodge ram truck in history, missing a nuclear green murcie spyder by inches (lambo guy saw it coming, slammed on brakes).
They will get you sooner or later!
I like the idea of a few bucks to park it in front, but then again, when grandma pulls up in the 1988 yellow, gold clad caddie and over shoots the pull up area by a bit.....

Wonder why this was the first post that suggested the obvious...why valet park anything. No wonder this country is so obese!

We always park the 360 up front Valet when visiting the Tropicanna. Tip the head Valet 30 -50 bucks and they'll keep a close eye on it. I usually tip 40 at the time of drop off and an additional 10 when I leave. On a busy night(fri-sat) I tip more (40 -50 bucks) during the week 20 upfront then 10 on pick up. They cone off the exotics and only let passers-by close enough to see them. Keep your valets happy and you don't have to worry, but never leave the keys to your baby.
    let's not forget Ferris Buller...

I would never, ever take the Ferrari to a restaurant I've never been to.
They may not have the space up front,I don't know valets, just too many unknowns to take unnecessary risks.
I have no problem with familiar places though, just give'em couple 20s,ask politely to leave it there and let them keep the keys so they can sit in it if they want.
As Spike308 said, there is always a risk of someone careless "overshooting" but then, there is the same risk every time you are driving the thing in normal traffic,at a stop sign, lights or whenever. If you want to enjoy your Fcar you have to accept all the risks involved with driving it,including any potential "hurt",otherwise you just end up stressing yourself unnecessarily or worse, having another "garage queen".
