I am being offered a 1979 308 GTS. It is a Canadian car with 50,000km Mechanically sound and 8/10 interior. Exterior was redone a year ago looks new. Everything works as it should. Value? what is it worth? Thanks in advance, all.
Hey Carlo, It's nice to see you looking for a 308. The little brother of your 288. I haven't seen you at the local car shows lately. I hope all is well. Cheers, Larry
Is it a Canadian market car originally, or a Euro or US model in Canada? About CAD75,000 would be a good starting estimate, if the km's are correct and the car in decent condition, maybe more if it cosmetically presents really well and has not been messed with. The 308's had galvanizing and rustproofing from about 1984, so these earlier models can get rust depending on how they were used and stored. I think 1979 GTS is the original Magnum car, so maybe that gives it some extra value. Last of the carb cars, which is putting it more into the vintage rather than classic category at this point. Possibly a plus for collectors.
If you can find a carb 308 in Canada for $75K... buy it! Thats roughly $52k USD They don't come up for sale that often in the Great White North

Seems like my suggesting benchmarking the market at $75k and adjusting for condition is a bit conservative, but too far off.
