I hang out in the 308/328 section mostly, and somehow I got linked to this story reprinted (with permission?) from a UK magazine article in 1996:
    http://www.parrotbyte.com/330GTRegistry/MagazineArticles/TCC199610.htm

The 246 is mentioned as well as the Fiat Dino.

---Editted--- since I misread the article originally (sorry). I thought the price comparisons were of the Ferrari 246 GTS, but it was comparing the actual Fiat Dino. Sorry the title didn't edit correctly.

with all due respect, we all know how the market and it's perception have changed over the last several years.

forgetting that, and removing my personal bias, i think the 206/246 dino's have become far more accepted in the last several years. because of this, values have risen.

there is no doubt that the dino valuations have jumped in the last 12 months, but it has been an idea that was a long time coming. the same can be said for the ferrari v-12's from the 60's and early 70's, we all knew they were under-valued.

it's amazing WE acted shocked that the dino's have jumped too.

after all, they are great looking cars that are cooll to drive.

but then again, maybe it's my bias that leans me that direction.

The Dino is one of the most driveable vintage Ferraris to date, making it quite versatile. You can show the car and also drive it.

You might not see the beautiful Lussos, 275's, or 330's on club drives, but the Dinos will be there.

Recently Pinin Farina stated the Dino was one of his top 10 lifetime designs.

I recall when Dinos were selling for $250,000.00 in the late 80's. I even looked at a Chairs&Flares Rosso Rubino in Woodland Hills, CA and thought the price was current for market. Folks today are surprised that 246 GTS cars are $150k-$225K...
