    Hey everyone,

My father is somewhat interested in picking up a used 360 coupe or spyder. We are both new to ferrari ownership but have both also been fans for years. Currently there is a 1999 360 coupe at a local dealer called Baystate motorsports. Their car is supposedly an incredible example of a 1999 (I personally havent checked it out yet) But they claim, no scratches or anything, perfect all original paint with 6k miles, serviced regularly with all service records. It's got Tubi as well as the 3m clearbra. Seat covers have been on the car since it was delivered to its first owner, its a 2 owner car. So seats are in perfect shape. It's a 6 speed red/tan. We plan to go take a look at it pretty soon, its priced at 134k... Any good negotiating points you guys might add? Any other good places to look for quality used cars?

And if you just wanna add that your a 360 owner and your experiences with the car that would be great too!

Thanks so much for the help everyone!

    -Jason

    It's a 6-speed manual -- that's great!

It's the first model year -- not good.

    It's a serious garage queen -- that's terrible.

I would keep looking. Spend another 10K and find a nice 02, at least. Preferably from an original owner who actually drives it regularly -- 3-4K miles per year. Then you won't have to worry about weird garage-queen related problems.

    Happy hunting!

6000 miles on a 6 year old car ,to me this is a good garage queen. If the car was 15 years old and had 6000 miles than that's a bad garage queen. The older the car the more non use the car sees is more of a problem than a car that is only 6 years old. Be very careful about what a used car guy says about all the service is up to date and done. When I looked for my 355 I saw several cars that were under 15000 mile examples and were advertised as ALL SERVICE UP TO DATE. all the cars were over 6 years old and NONE had the belts done. Remember it is 30000 miles or 5 years witch ever comes first! A 99 360 is over due for it's Major . Make sure that it has been done and that the cam variator update was done.
If you get serious about the car and want a second opinion pm me I live in MA. The price is high .

Thanks for all the comments guys. I really appreciate the help.

Is 114k really a reasonable offer? 20k off the price?

No way a dealer like Baystate is going to let this go for $114K. Assuming the car is up to spec on service, you'd be fortunate to get this in the low $120's. Start in the high teens - settle in the low 20s.

    Good luck with the deal.

Way too much. $20k maybe. Little all said get one that has been driven. You can by a 1 owner 2001 EURO red tan spider with HGE 19's in front and 20's rear, challenge grills, tubi with 10k miles for $150k

I know the car you are looking at is a 99 and out of warranty, but still...
Most dealers and I mean Ferrari Dealers will not touch your Euro car to work on it.

My opinion stay away from the Euro. Back to the coupe, $134k is a bit overpriced, I'd say it should be in the mid to high 120k's.

You said it has service records, but is it current on the services, t-belt been done? 15k been done?

Your looking at a $6000 serivce if not. Nobody give me that crap about" oh it doesn't have 15,000 miles" waaaa waaaa waaaa. TIME is the issue with 1999, 2000, and the 2001...that belt service is a must!

Also see if the Variator campaign has been done, if not maybe you can strike a deal with them on the belt service and do it at the same time...saves on labor cost. Ferrari should pay for the variator camp...

Don't believe the myth that F-car dealers won't work on your euro car, of course dealers want you to pay $130k for a late model US 360 Coupe. When a euro is $110k.
    So the myth continues........

Any car out of warranty a Fealer dealer "will" work on. They are just not allowed to work on them while still under warranty. Such is their agreement with the factory,as I understand it. Plus, Ferrari maintanance business is what their in business for. At a $110-125 and hour and parts marked up through the roof they cannot afford to turn away all that business. Back in the day they were almostly euro cars as well.

I found this out in my search for a late model 360 and since I have owned my Euro I have two F-dealers who will work on it.
