Do the Euro versions command any sort of premium over the US versions? saw an '86 328 GTS that might be interesting to me.

With the right buyer who wants a Euro, they would warrant a small premium. On the other hand, a lot of buyers are wary of the Euro models with the resulting uncertainty of being able to pass various state emissions and consequently value them less than U.S. spec cars.

Overall, I would expect to pay about the same for a car in good condition regardless if it is U.S. spec or not. Just be sure that you get copies of the DOT paperwork showing it is legally imported into the U.S. and that the car will pass your local emission regulations.

I'd agree with Bandit. I wouldn't pay more for a Euro, and would likely pay less as I'd be worried about federalization, parts, etc.

They generally sell for less and if you live in an area with emissions testing, they can be troublesome depending on which market they originally came from. Many dealers and some insurance companies won't touch them. There is also the matter of parts, many of which are different and impossible to find in the US. If an owner were to be lucky and find someone who really wants a Euro, perhaps he can get extra. This is more like having a wierd color and finding a buyer who must have it. It could sell tomorrow or 2 years from now.

Euro 328 is a better car in many ways. I'm lucky enough to live where emmisions testing will probably never occour- my car was "un-federalized" soon after being approved.

Getting parts is not a problem.

Price wise- little to any discount to people who know better.
    No premium.
