I have a 2006 F 430 that I have had for a couple of weeks now. I was checking the oil level and had the hood open with the engine running and noticed a lot of tapping noise as if it had a solid lifter. The oil level didn't register on the dipstick, but the car just had an oil change before I picked it up, so I can't imagine its not full, I'm obiously not checking it properly. But anyways is it normal to hear a lot of valve train noise or is my oil level really that low ? Thanks for your help..

Read your owners manual for the correct way to check the oil. The procedure varies from model to model, and year to year. Start there and see if the oil is in fact low.
