    Any government internet sites where you can check what vanity plates have already been issued? I was at the DMV and rattled of my top 10 choices, all were already used...no surprise.

    Any such resource?

    That would depend on where you live. In Michigan you can do it at the Secy of State website. I'd call my Ill. DMV and ask, or wander around their website some.

    Check you state dept of licensing website. WA state has a lookup feature for vanity plates.
