My wife and I are looking into this option. Just curious if anyone has personal feedback...recovery time, pain, cost, possible insurance coverage, etc Thanks
Haven't had it done, but I hear it is in and out in the same day. Almost no recovery needed. I talked to a husband and wife where the guy had it done. For a women to have her tubes tied...its a procedure. Not the case for the guy. J
it's a very quick outpatient procedure usually done in the doctor's office. there are some risks - there's a ton of information online - google it up. tubiligation is real surgery. doody.
Absolutely nothing to it. Done under a local in a few minutes and you're on your way. I went out dancing that night. Didn't hurt that the doctor's orders were: "Here's a prescription for codeine. You like beer? Good, have your wife stop and pick up a six-pack on the way home. Drink 5 and stick the other one between your legs!"
I believe there is some non-anecdotal evidence that vasectomy patients have higher rates of prostate cancer in the future. Not sure where I saw that, and I'm sure the dic doc can confirm/deny this. DM
Scott, The procedure is a piece of cake. I walked in and--more importantly--walked out in about 1 hour. No pain/swelling at all. Tried out the plumbing the next day to make sure it still worked. You've had kids already, I trust. Otherwise, think long and hard before you have this done.
Fun Fact: Half the law suits against urologist involve vasectomies. either... they fail: "You didn't tell me they could fail!" Or... They work: "You didn't tell me I would be sterile". Not joking.
When it comes to scapels and ball sacks, sorry, but I'm not sure if I'd take advice from a guy named NIX!
Sure. What does that have to do with anything? There is a vas deferens between what we consider "Balls!"
Love the response boys...keep it up. 1. I personally never intened to have kids....marriage was a pretty big stretch, but it happened (happily)! 2. My wife had a back fusion when she was 18 and "being pregnant" was never really advised for her future. 3. She's tired of the pill. 4. My wife was adopted, so she dosen't really have a stigma about going down that route..... if "we" should choose it. 5. The ferrari, lotus and Harley don't have back seats... see #1 6. I'm getting pretty old...see#1 7. See # 1... =)
great thread. ... been wondering about this. i am 34 and single. dont want kids. and i have great insurance....... edit : i heard that men get fat after having this done.... i am lean and have a high metabolism. will this procedure tend to make you gain weight?
Same here but forty-something. If I was in a position in which a baby was on the way, I would freak...BUT! Being with a new puppy this week, I kinda have that 'dad' hat on. It's probably 10% of a child. Really different feeling of responsability!
