does anyone know how many Vector were produced ? what years? was it true or an urban legend about a 1000 HP Vector? what was their price/value then & now? why they didn't keep producing them? if somebody has pictures or tales to tell about VECTOR please share them here Thanks.
Go to the Southern California section and look for Patrick Shim...he knows quite a lot about that deal.
I had the priviledge of spying a Vector when I was in Houston last summer. My friend works at Post Oak Motors, and they had one there on consignment. I was thrilled when I found out. I've attached a couple pics of it. I don't know if they've sold it yet. I know they had sent it out for some serious repairs. I checked up on it in January, and it was still out being fixed. But, I haven't heard anything since then. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was outside the host hotel in LA back during the FCA National Meet a couple of years ago and one was parked out front. I kept thinking I knew the guy that was standing around it but I couldn't place his face. I kept taking pictures of his car and a few others around ther when he walked up to me and asked me if I was with the media (really). THEN I recognized him; it was Jerry Wiegert! Nice guy, we talked for about an hour.
Wow! I'm surprised still nobody has come up yelling that's is Ugly (as usual with all supercars in this Ferrari biased site) anyway before that happens I'll go ahead and post this image which is worth more than a 1000 words. and let's see if despite this pic still someone comes up complaining about it's design & style Q. are the pics posted by Supercarlover from the Lamborghini-based Vector or what is the deal with that softened Vector? Q. is this "W8" thing named after the aforementioned Mr. Wiegert? was he the creator of this dream? If so why did he stop? http://www.autotitre.com/forum/up/0da97973c4.jpg looks specially good from behind Q. Total Vector production:? value? Image Unavailable, Please Login
There was a good article in the Aug. 2004 issue of Automobile magazine. Unfortunately, it's not available online.
I viewed that one last spring while they had it as well. When I saw it, it was in horrid condition. Broken windshield, badges missing, and other small things. The interior looked wrecked too. Not sure what happened to it though. But, nonetheless, it was a site worth seeing being so rare.
Can you imagine trying to find a windshield for one of those things? I bet non-body parts would not be too bad, though. He would have had to use lots of off the shelf GM stuff due to costs. I think the first cars had 350's in them.
I've never seen one in person but I've always thought they were pretty cool looking. They finally came out with a 1/18 scale a while back but I've yet to get one.
Just cause... Go check out this thread, sometimes it pays to do a search. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23964&page=2&pp=20&highlight=Vector+W8
Yes, according to the post above, the one I saw was the Lambo-based M12. I love both of 'em. Yes, when I was there last August, they were working on getting a replacement windshield for it. I also stopped by in January, and it was out in Florida getting more repairs done. That's all I know. I'll have to give my friend a call and see what's up with it. P.S. Very interesting post by Vector W8. Very informative.
There were 17 W8's and 13 M12's produced (I might be off by 1~2). There also are two Avetech Prototypes (prototypes for M12's) and a W2 (prototype for W8) in existance. Back then the W8's were around $450k, now you can find one for around $100k (but you will have to spend another $100k to get it back to shape. M12's.... not sure on the MSRP...., but recently a M12 was auctioned off in Vegas around $100k. The company was bought out by Indonnaisians who owned Lamborghini. Later they shut it down.
Yes, "W" in "W8" means Wiegert. Jerry sold the company then the company was shut down. There are many versions of this story but won't talk about that.
I'm ashamed to admit it: but that's the reason why I got so excited about Vector lately: the addition of a 1:18 scalemodel to my supercar collection and it looks very nice, in fact is more of a sculpture rather than a toy. So is this the first time a Vector is offered to 1:18 collectors? and yes I did a search before starting this thread but the pictures are gone. does someone have more VECTOR pics?
I have some on my pictures site. www.patrickshim.com/pictures.htm There are 3-4 links that has Vector pictures from various events and stuff. Please do not copy and past the pictures on other websites.
Yep what with the design and orginal prototype of the Vector preceding the Diablo by about 16 years or so.
It's here in Austin. Saw it today. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
