So my girl's b-day is April 6th so that week we're headed to sin city. Contrary to what my massive car collection (read: non existant) would suggest, I am a poor boy, and I'm trying not to spend TOO much, but also want to make it nice.

I found some deals on hotels that claim to be 4 stars - such as Aladdin, Treasure Island, MGM Grand, Luxor, NY NY, Tropicana, The Palms, The Mirage, and Paris. I've stayed at MGM, Rio, Luxor, Excalibur and the Hilton in the past but boy have prices gone up. Can anyone say which of the hotels that are in my price range are best? I didn't like MGM too much - nice lobby but the rooms weren't great. I liked Luxor. Caesars is $100 more for the 5 nights than those listed, would it be worth it? I really wanna be on the strip. I'm not huge into fancy hotels but I want to pick the best value since the ones listed are all about the same price.

Also curious about folks' suggestions of what to do in Vegas? I wanna go do the ATV thing in the desert (she'd love it), check out Mt. Charleston and the Valley of Fire. Do the Hoover Dam day maybe. Rollercoaster at NYNY and the Big Shot on the Stratosphere. Is the rollercoaster atop the Stratosphere working now? Maybe we could do the aerial tour of the Grand Canyon too...

I haven't been to Vegas in almost 4 years so I know things have changed... whats new in the past 4 years thats a must-see? The Paris, Venetian and Palms are all new since I've been there. I also want to get tickets to Mystere - saw it before and it was the best show. I've seen Sigfried and Roy, Tommy Tune (both sucked). What others are "must see"???

What about good eats? There used to be a place called Bacchanal at Caesars that was AWESOME but its gone. They served food on big plates and you drank from golden goblets next to a water fountain - a very small place but it was just fantastic. Its gone now - I don't care so much about the very best food (I know Picasso is probably that) but unique and enjoyable fine dining, even if it's not the very best of the best.

I'm a Vegas regular, and I can say that not a whole lot has changed in the past four years. There is one new hotel/casino that I can think of, and that is the new Wynn Resort. This may interest you because an entire wing of the resort is the Wynn Collection which, from what I can gather, is a large art gallery with Steve Wynn's personal art collection and I'd bet a whole bunch of other art. It may be worth visiting - check it out.

I just did a quick google search, and while I didn't find any specific webpage for the Wynn Collection, I did see some reveiws of the joint, and they were all good. Rembrandt, Picasso, MOnet - just a few of the artists with works in the Wynn Colelction.

    Have fun!
