Hello. This is my first post. I bumped into this site looking for information of an old friend my dad had growing up his name was Rodrigo Borges Zingg. He was a Ferrari owner and driver that sadly was killed in his first pro race in the Bahamas. My father also owned a 1959 Ferrari Super America. He obtained the Super America along with a 1959 Chrysler 300E by trading a 1928 Packard 8 Phaeton. Zingg and my father were in the same elite click of fortunate misfits. Meaning they all had money and were very well off but would do little crimes for fun. Borges was known to enter the Caracas GP with his road car a Testarossa until the timers would see the extra car and ask for the police to escort him off the track. Also entered the race in Maracay when they held those races in Venezuela.

Back when Venezuela was first importing oil big time to the U.S. (still a lartge supplier) I think a lot of exotic cars were brought down there, even the Chrysler prototypes like the Firearrow which they would sell right off the show stand if you were from some far off place. I was wondering if Ferraris were already the ultimate car there back in the mid-50s and if any of those cars are still down there.

I own a BMW 503, year 1956, which was first delivered to BMW dealer Gustavo Zingg in 1956. Now I am looking for persons who have contact to the Zingg family (or Zingg company) to get some information about my car. maybe there is a booklet where to find the customer who bought the car or maybe it was the personal car from Mr. Gustavo Zingg himself, who knows?
    Any information would be appreciated.

    With kindest regards
    Alfred (Austria)

It seems like many people are looking to track down info on Zingg in relation to their cars. Would be a good contact to have if anybody knows about it.

Hello Alfred, you can post your question here:

The Zingg Family was the owners of Mercedes Benz Venezuela since the 50's and one of the most influent familys back in the days. I don't know if they also was the BMW's importer, maybe it was Gustavo Zingg's personal car.

I recently acquired dino 206 #00184, It was originally imported to Venezuala new in 1969 and was owned by the chief Ferrari Mechanic there. He owned it for a number of years and then sold it to his apprentice. It came to the US 3 years ago. The car was originally dino blu metallizzato with beige vinyl interior with yellow seat inserts. YES YELLOW!!. At some point it was painted red with black interior. I plan to restore to original. Doesanyone know about this car or better yet does anyone have any pictures of this car. It now resides in Spicewood, Texas.
