Hello - This might be a silly question, but I am just not sure of the proper vent aerodynamics.... My car (1983 308 QV GTB Euro) was missing the front under-tray panel & I ended up buying a Vented Front Undertray panel (Ferrari part 60059706SF for LHD). However I am not certain of the proper vent orientation? 1. Vents up directing air out & under the car or 2. Vents down which would scoop air up from under the car... I thought the panel bolt holes would help me determine this, however they are symmetrical, except for one hole on the back edge of the panel - which does not line up well either way. I believe that option 1 - directing air out (from front radiator flow) and under the car makes sense, but I could be wrong. Here are a couple pictures Picture #1 Vents up directing air out & under the car Image Unavailable, Please Login Picture #2 - Vents down which would scoop air up from under the car... With the large triangular openings aft of the plate, how much flow could those louvers really add, however they are mounted?
Some guys just use a piece of expanded metal. Keeps out large stones and birds, yet lets air flow either way it’s needed……
The large hole in the panel is for the air conditioner evaporator drain hose. It should be on the right side of the car. Mike's photo shows the hose protruding from the panel. Its a 1/4" thick aluminum skid plate. Its aftermarket. I have one which i bought from Superformance during a "Free Shipping" sale. I bought it after I scrapped the bottom of the car on a badly undulating asphalt road. The thing I don't like about it is that there really is no robust way to bolt it firmly to the chassis. Mike seems to be missing the sheet metal that covers those openings. Seems to me its not a good idea to have that sheet metal missing since it would allow dirt to accumulate in that area. Facing the louver openings backward would also keep airflow downward and keep dirt out.
