Hello all again, My last post on this did not get much response but I am hoping this one will do better. I need help. When I start my 348 TS 1991, it idles at 2000rpm. At idle this seems extremely high. What should I be checking or doing. Need help from the brotherhood Gurus!!!!!
I don't have any personal experience here, but I belive there are motors that regulate the idle. Might want to check the conenctions there before doing any adjustments. Check this out for more info on how it works. http://www.my348.com/348.html#IDLEAdjust
Did you do a reset yet? Do this first: http://www.my348.com/348.html#resetECU Shut everything off, disconnect the battery for at least 30 seconds, start the engine, but do not touch anything not even the brake. Let the engine run for at least 10 minutes or until both the fans come on. This should give the engine time to relearn. If this does not fix the idle I would start looking at the throttle cable next, look for hang-ups. After that you can check the idle screws etc. --Mike
Check your Throttle cables possible the cable or brackets are stuck and Throttle-body are not close fully, its had happend on my 348 Spider. Re-adjust and never had high idling issues
You may find this interesting reading. Although it refers to a 355, the same principles apply. Good luck. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228082&highlight=348+idle+control+valve
Thanks for the help all. I have started letting it run from cold about 10-15 minutes and it seems to be fine. This was after an ecu reset.
You knuckle heads! You forgot to tell him the most important part. He has to wear a tinfoil hat while resting the ecu's. O'h my! Did I just say that?
