Let me first say, I have no personal interest in the car and am posting here as a service to fchatters looking for a nice, very reasonbly priced 355.
I have very thoroughly checked this car out and am convinced it is a very good example early 355. Silver/black with just under 20k. However, during the 15k service (mid 02) they failed to check the cam bearings which seized, causing timing belt to break causing damage to both lower timing gears, the crank gear etc. Bummer deal for the owner. The bill came in at over $36k!!! All the work was done by Ferrari of Denver by a very good tech. I have spoken with them extensively as I was going to trade for this car, but it did not work out. The entire motor was rebuilt, valve guides upgraded and the car runs tight and fast from several first hand accounts,( I have also spoken with the tech who just serviced the car). The seller, Paul Herman, is a stand up guy and the car is a very good value, imo.
Nice, clean car with recently rebuilt, upgraded engine should leave the new owner a nice shot at several years of maintenence free drivng pleasure. You can contact Paul at 716 861 4144. As I stated, I have no personaly interest in this but since I have done my homework on this car, if you are a serious buyer and want to talk to me further, just pm me. John

Wow. That's like a mirror of my old car. I think that a lot of people confused my car with that one when I got it because I had people asking about the cam bearings, to which I was like, "what are you talking about?"

Obviously, now I know why. It's like a mirror of my car.

But then again Ryan, It doesn't have the Speedlines, F-50 brakes, Challenge rear
grill, Tubi or been featured in Forza and "The Italian Sports Car". I get (your old) 355 back this Saturday! Can't wait. This car looks like a great deal though. The color is beautiful. I didn't realize how much I liked it until I got your car and drove it to the gas station where it stopped traffic with lookers. The last Ferrari I had was Red but this one is amazingly beautiful. I just may never go back to red. Well, not right now at least. :)

guys, let me preface this comment by saying i am a fan of the 355 berlinetta and believe it to be far superior than the 360 from a styling standpoint...but...$70k for that car w/ that mileage? don't think so!

i have a good friend that had a 97 fly yellow 6 sp w/11k miles challenge grill roll cage, big f40 brakes, two sets of wheels, willans belts, fresh service and in immaculate condition!!

he had the car listed in the market letter for quite a while at under 70k w/no bites. the only legit bites he got were all under $60k. i am being honest with this info...he ended up trading for an ex challenge car that was wrecked terribly and repaired...but still quite tattered!

50-60k makes a 355 a great value however, maybe even the best ferrari value.

    Scott,
And not to mention to TLC that Tim Barnett, then I, showered the car with.

That colour combination is unbeatable. If anyone finds a 512TR like that, let me know. Seriously, I am still trying to figure out a replacement car and I have a few on my list. I have not ruled out a 348 but the highest placed Ferrari is the 512TR (or an 88.5+). To be honest, I am trying to get behind the wheel of a Lotus V8TT to see if that's going to be the next car. I still can't decide. The F430 I'm on the list for won't get here until late 06.

Truth be told.....if he left it 100% stock and original he would have been able to command his full price. A first time FCar buyer is leary if such items as it is indicitive or track time or abuse. I've seen it happen a hundred times. Although I like Tubi, C-Grills, etc it is analogous to an "over improvement" in the real estate industry. You will not recoup those investements, and may actually depreciate the assest value.

Now, a previous 3X8 owner moving up would be interested. But it does not play well for the public at large.

From my experience you are dreaming if you think you can find a nice 355 for that money. I am pretty clear on the market right now and I think this car is priced pretty fairly and do not think 20k is too high mileage for a 95. But in any case, like I stated, there is nothing in this for me but to share my research with the board and alert those looking to a possiblity. But 50k, or even 60k for a good car, please show me one and like Ricky said, I would buy it.

The car in question is a '95 model. 20K miles is hardly a high mileage car. Its nine years old already so its averaged about 2,200 miles/year. Its a car, not a trophy to sit on the shelf. From the research I did when buying my 355, 2,200 miles/year was the average for 355s. I think $70K is a very good price for this car given the service record. Should make a wonderful driver, which is what these cars should be.

The mods in question would lower the value of the yellow 355 in question, as pointed out by FL 355. Martin has a similar 355 with a cage and other stuff done to it and he has also been holding on to that car since at least January. In the mean time he has sold several other 355s at higher prices.

call steve barney at sport auto and ask him about the lovely yellow 97 he was representing for his client and ask him of its' condition and what it really sold for. remember guys ...the asking price and the transaction price are often quite different.

btw...the car was in the ferrari market letter for months and was avail to all of you that say you would have been buyers at under $65k.

    where were you?

this was not intended to be a post to make owners mad however, just the facts relative to the car i had mentioned at the price i told you.

If somebody thinks 20k miles is high miles on a 95...dream on. I have seen more 355's with unhooked or spun odometers than you can shake a stick at.

Woops! Tha radio transmitter is out that makes that spEEdo-meter work! How ya like dat!
