My car has been misfiring lately. I changed all the plugs and it helped, but what I noticed was one of the extenders is red 105MM. All the others are black 100mm. I had new wires, extenders, and plugs replaced about 3 years ago and it ran well up to this season. My question is, why would someone use one red extender? Any other reason than they had it in the shop and didn't want to order the black ones? Is it recommended to mix the two? Any recomendation for replacement?

    Thanks,

Should all be red and the resistance value is different from black to red. Black is for the older carbed cars. Has to do with RFI effecting your digiplexes.

From memory my 80 308 GTSI had black extenders not the red that was mentioned earlier. I don't know about the values but it does seem strange that they were mixed. If the red one is longer it would make since that the value is different.

Thanks for your reply. The red one that I have is 105mm. Is this the correct length?

Extenders are so inexpensive it's silly IMO to mix them......

I'd order a set by year specification, and match them all up..wrong or failing ones could indeed be your troubles...

Newman is right, all my early cars use the black ones.....send them over!

I haven't ever measured the length, but the main thing to know is the different electrical characteristics, resistance wise.......

I looked up part number 115647. Rutland and Ricambi shows black. Do I have the right part number for an 84 308QV? Thanks.

    They may all be black...

They should be able to tell you if you need "resistance" or "non resistance" to match your ignition......
