My nephew, Andy Lausten, lives in New York and drives his Ferrari to work in addition to entering and competing nicely in local events. He and the Ferrari were picked as one of nine pace riders for a special event. Here is his Email to me and some pictures.

    Hey John,
Enjoy these pics! They are of me on the Ferrari during the New York 5 Boro Bike Tour, a 42 mile ride with 30,000 participants through Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island. It's the largest bicycle event in the country, and the 2nd year I did it. I'm one of the volunteer Marshalls that are in the front who set the pace. Lots of fun! The group shot on the Gowanis you can see me on left, and my riding buddy Ken is right next to me. The other two shots you can get a great close up of the Ferrari! All these photos were while we were riding through Brooklyn, just before the end going over the Verrazano Bridge into Staten Island. The bike is fantastic, rides like butter! Hope you like them John!

He never told me but a 2 year old version, not 60th anniversary, was on Ebay for $7000. I imagine Andy's was over $10,000. Expesive but Hell, its a Ferrari and rides like one. All carbon fiber except for the gears.

Thanks John! It was a nice surprise that you posted these pictures. This bike was hanging in the bike store (Strictly Bicycles in Fort Lee, NJ) I frequent for several months. I just couldn't bare seeing it hanging on a wall, even though most bicyclist who go in say that's where it belongs. The Italian bicycle manufacturer, Colnago, has collaborated with Ferrari for 20 years on carbon fiber and technical design. This limited edition bicycle, 1 of 60 built in the whole world (20 in the U.S.), was designed for Ferrari to celebrate their 60th Anniversary and collaborative efforts. It is expensive, costs $11,000, but the shop owner gave me a $2500 trade in on another high-end bike I had. So I feel I got a great deal. And yes those tires are very red. The store ironically only had red tires at the time, I probably would have put on the traditional black. But a lot of people like the red tires.

One of only 60?! You'd better take good care of it, but it's great that you're actually riding it. The red tires are very cool.

I would stick black slicks on it for my normal ride and the reds back on for special events. Cant imagine how difficult the original reds would be to locate; best to save them for special rides.

So can it be serviced at a Ferrari dealer? :D

    And...how much does it weigh!!!

There is no reason not to ride it. It's a bike. It's a very simple piece of machinery that can easily be repaired and maintained. Those who think it should remain a display item are snobs.

How much does it weigh, all in? Not just the frame, but as you ride it? Would love to know if it's any lighter than my $800 all-carbon Scott CR-1 (which is at 16 lbs). It was $2,000 originally, but I got a deal at Christmas-time.

I am thinking of losing a few hundred grams by going with an all-carbon handlebar. Anyone have any opinions?

Speaking of exotic bikes, who has connections that could get or advise on how to get a Pro level racing bike? I understand that they are sold sparingly to non-pros.

Thanks all for the welcome. Sounds like the consensus is to stick with the red tires. Coming from other Ferrari owners, I'm sure that's sound feedback. Funny about servicing at Ferrari dealerships, I'll have to check into that :). As far as weight, it's a little more than 16 lbs. The only concession I made when I purchased it was I changed the seat at the advise of the store owner and a couple others. What came with the bike was a carbon fiber hand painted Sella saddle with the the 60th Anniversary Ferrari emblem. That I do have hung on the wall in my office. Looks great!
