Stu (and Ron), I have something around 200 Roadace models, of which 60+ are Ferraris. I did have several RD Marmandes, but when I sold my collection of 2000 or so Ferrari models in the late '80s, I sold those and kept the Roadaces. To me they have much more character. These may be some you haven't seen. The Penske Porsche 917/10K is one of my favorites, because of the level of detail hand-done in 1/100. The Ferrari 348 Challenge is a one-off; it's one of the two 1993 cars from Lime Rock. The 333 SP was one of two made for me. The Ford GTs and Cobras are in 1/100, and the Cunningham C4R in front is 1/200. The last photo is one of the five Roadace display cases made, when the plan was to sell some of the models in English model shops. The larger models are 1/200 scale, including one on a paper base, before he started using the wooden plinths made by a neighbor. It's hard to see the models on the bottom, but that is the entire 1991 F1 grid in 1/244 scale, all hand-painted. Helmets are accurate for each driver, and the shape of each car is correct (rather than just using one casting). It takes a magnifying glass to appreciate the details. O.G. The vast majority of Roadace models I have seen are of 1930s through 1960s cars, so there are quite a few in your collection I have never seen. IMO, you shouldn't have gotten rid of the Marmande models though....
How about this one of a kind miniature built by master builder Michele Conti for me. It is completely scratchbuilt in large 1/10 scale using brass, leather, rubber, etc. About the price of a Japanese car...but worth every penny. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Check out this Cobra he made in 1/10 scale. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
As good as Conti was, I think the best modeler ever in large scale, other than the guy that did the 1/3 scale Ferrari, was Manuel Olive Sans. Gerald Wingrove also does excellent work....but these models are at least $10,000...and some are closer to $30,000!! Dale King, who does 90% Porsches (but only for himself; as one-offs) also does superb work in various scales. In 1/43rd the absolute master is Alain Bouisseau, but he only does Bugattis. There are others almost as good, but Bouisseau does more than one of each car, and the others almost exclusively do "one-offs".
They are nice, but getting a bit expensive lately. Sometimes the only maker of certain models. Rather save my money and collect 1:1.
This may have been discussed before but is BBR going to make the 599 that appeared in Geneva - Rosso Fiorano with the CH wheels? I noticed they already made one with the regular wheels (BBR183D).
BBR 183 D rosso monza ( the dark red one in Geneva ) is on the BBR web side with regular wheels ,inside my BBR cataloge ( 6 month old ) there is a drawing with challenge wheels .... thats BBR !! I think he will do it as he did with the 430 Scaglietti wait wait wait and first lets see what BBR brings
I own this 1:43 Porsche Panamericana, it's signed by Ferdinand Porsche! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sometimes it's hard to see the justification of the higher price of the BBR, compared to the quality offered by less expensive brands like Looksmart and MakeUp/Eidolon. Raven> very cool model. The Porsche Panamericana is a very cool car. Didn't Ferry Porsche received the actual car as a present for his 80th birthday?
the question is how much do you pay for a BBR 140 170 200 220 ?????? a new BBR is look at ebay.........not more than 150 and they are not rare 456 GT there are more than 7000 !! ENZOS in red where 3000 ordered from BBR before the first one was outside the factory. The production of a model needs less than 100 minutes ! Our white 599 is worth the same as a red or a blue one, the only thing is that you get more money when you sell him but the worth is ( for me ) the same . 3 weeks ago a collector paid for an pyramide display with an enzo 627 the enzo is 127 the empty pyramide is 500 for me unbelivably
Christien, what scale is this and do you know if there are anymore available (or would you sell yours)?
