In another thread, called the miniature Precision workshop, you can see the new P4 i got of ebay in scale 1/14.
This is the best model i have in the collection. Its in the scale of Brianza's.
But in terms of quality its much better......
    a few pictures are attached.
The spare tyre has dents, were straps hold the wheel in place.
On the hood is the sprayunit for the washwater.

I have the model for a day now, and I find new details everytime I have a look.

There is one more brianza in the mail (praying it arrives in one piece).
The P4 only had some small cracks in the dustcover. I have experienced worse cases, because of the mailsystem.

It was an extremely good month for my collection. Once and a while you find something special on the internet, on average 1-2 times a year. 2007 is great so far.......

-white metal (Piccolino, Somerville, Western Models, Brooklin, Tameo, John Day-Mikansue, FDS, etc.)

First of all, the truck. It's a limited edition Brianza. I also spotted this one on ebay, I paid 75 euros for it. (last week 1 went for 300,-)

I started collecting around 1987, and it started off with the 1/18 bburago F40. I spotted the modell, before production and it grabbed me instantly.
During the years you see lots of modells pass by. I think I know allmost every ferrari scalemodel built between 1988 and 2007. Heco, Tron, AMR, BBR etc..........
allmost none of the modells of the 80's are still in my possession, except the handbuilts of BBR, Heco, and a few pochers, which I am selling right now,
because they take up to much space.. Over the years you build up a lot of knowledge, and in later years you stumble on a lot of collectables at ebay and local websites, and thats the funpart for me.

At the moment I have around 125 modells. Now and then I find a rare Brianza, Enrica or an early BBR, for a reasonable price, models that I couldn't afford earlier.(collecting is only a part of my life).
A brianza was wayyyy out of my league in the 80's.
I use my knowledge to obtain really special modells.
Going to a shop and ordering a BBR which is produced in hundreds or thousands is no challenge. I like special items in the collection.
The collection is not getting to much bigger eather. I can display all the modells in a reasonable way, and more is not allways better.

A very strange thing to others F-chatters must be the fact that I don't pursuit the dream of owning a 1/1 ferrari. After collecting modells and literature for so long, the ferrari I would like, is the one I can never afford........
No newer stuff for me, there are to many, and the ones I like are to expensive. the 599zagato, the p4-5 or the 612 Kappa are amazing!
I Respect people thinking otherwise, but that's just personal.
( Jim Napolis) owns the cars I would really want, so now I acquired the miniature version of the P4 (as rare as the 1/1) but a whole lot cheaper on gasoline.)

During next week, i'll take some more pictures, here is one of the pocher engines...

Looking good Hans. I especially like the 328-set by Heco. I have Mike from miniwerks.com set me up with the two Ferrari 512S Codalunga as run by Scuderia Filipinetti during the Le Mans race of 1970, with a displaycase originally meant for a 1:24, so I can create my own Scuderia Filipinetti-set. Gonna look cool.

The Artsports F40 looks great as well. I'm still waiting for the version that MakeUpCo will be putting out sometime in the next few months. Or so they say.

The make up version will be better, love them but....the BBR was made in 1991.

Back in those days, the BBR was a masterpiece, nowadays with the computertechnology that is used, modelmaking is in another level.
The older models that I have are not as good as new ones. But back then, the builders were masters of art and very skilled.

You simply cannot compare old and new anymore. I apreciate the new models, but being a long time collector, the old ones have theyre own charm. I don't like the new BBR way of doing business. Every shop or color has its limited edition. Count them up and production is big, model is the same..
With the numbers they are producing, prices are destined to drop.

An example is the new rubberprint window system. For building an old BBR you needed lots of practice and fine skills. With the new rubberprint, its a lot easier to build a model in topquality. Order a prepaintkit, and the job is a matter of a few hours, I spent days and days doing it the old way.

Every collector has his/her preferences I respect them all, but I can spend my money once and have specific view of what I like.....

true. BBR's way of doing business gives a whole new dimension to the term 'limited'. Like the yellow FXX (Phil Bachman). At first it was made for Cavallino Models in a quantity of 20 pieces, but now it is out on their own label in a quantity of a few 100. Since I wanted a yellow one, I got one of those. Saves a lot of money and you get the exact same model, besides the specific presentation.

The Looksmart FXX would be even less expensive, but it just can't compare to the BBR-version. Not so with the 599 though. The Looksmart 599 is very nice and the BBR-version IMHO doesn't justify a pricetag of a $100,- over the Looksmart price.

Do the Pocher gas caps open? The model looks like it is ready to drive off!

I can fill it with my 1927 C.A.W. Novelty Company Fuel Tanker.

    I totally agree.
At the moment I await BBR, Looksmart and even other brands for specific models. In some cases Looksmart is cheaper and even better. However Last I heard was that Looksmart is raising its prices with at least 15%.

Looksmart claims that they are producing models in China to keep the prices low, but on the miniwerksforum Mike made a tour around European companies like BBR and MR, and at MR there were pictures of the new Looksmart 166MM
built at MR in Italy. Italians will allways be Italians, they produce beautifull models but theyre way of doing business is allways a bit vague...
For me that started with the very first BBurago F40, (it took years to get supplies going, and the BBR programs always get delayed...........
In Holland, we call it doing business the Mediteranian way. When the product is good, people can accept delays.

Jordan, I hope the dwarfs can reach the pochers gascap.........

I'll make some last pictures of the pochers, now I still can. They are on ebay right now, and will be sold within a few days.............
(I only keep 1 black testarossa because its the best I have)
need to make space for the new (more exclusive models)

    Hans

Marnix, you must have some special ones?

over 10.000 views in this thread, a handfull of people posting........

There must be more collectors out there to show us something special in handbuilts.

    Where are the conti's, the Patrice de Conto's, Feeling 43, Subers, OMF's, starters, BBR's, MR's, AMR's, Modelplus's, Provence M's, the Heco's, Jolly's and .............

mr. Shirley, Bardinon, Hiramatsu, show us the supermodels.....
Show us things we can admire. ( you will probably visit F-chat now and then)

Collecting Ferrari handbuilts in all scales is a world on its own. This thread deserves more!!!!!!!!

Artwork should be enjoyed by many....just like the 1/1ferraris.

(not to trade, just to enjoy)

In about 2 weeks I am expecting a 1/14 275gtb by Brianza in exactly the same color.

I really like the tron models from Italy. They have produced the 275(2cam) with enginedetail in the 1980's (sold it last year).
    Heavy whitemetalkits like amr.

    I totally agree on that.
Mr. Shirley, would you be so kind to show some more details???

Have you seen the new patrice de Conto D50? its on www.minidelta.be
He builds models in an incredible way. Like the driver just walked away after finishing the race. It looks so real, you can allmost hear the engine.

His P4 is also awesome with 850 rivets tobe placed on the body.
The price of the P4 as a kit is manageable (600 euro's).......without any opening parts or enginedetail.

Totally awesome. I also love the 1/8 315S. I believe it was displayed at the Retromobile show in Paris last february. It is amazing what some people can design and built. I have no problem in calling these miniatures true pieces of art.

I just kinda lurk here now than post. My model collecting days are over..I've just burned out.

At the peak I had 2000+ Ferrari models. But Ive trimmed that down to 500-600 or so. Gone are my Amalgam, most Brianza, Conti, Dalia most MRs, most of the diecast Art, Best, Bang, Brumm, Top have been sold too. Sorry..I guess I should have taken more pictures.

Speaking of pictures...somewhere here in these forums is my remaining collection. Ive got mostly just BBR 1/43 from the 1990s. I tried to collect all the F40s, F1 and BC series.

I sort of have pictures. When I ran the diecast business I took pictures of everything. But most of those are bland studio picts meant for a website. The pictures of my collections are only (sadly) of the recent and much reduced collection.
