For 360 racing only is there anyone who can program an F1 gearbox to change the way it shifts if needed?

For 360 racing only can you wire the engine for an aftermarket ECU like a motec and still retain the factory brain or whatever makes the F1 gearbox work or do these 2 major systems need to talk to each other?

    Thanks Gents!

Yes it is possible to re flash the trans ECU, but you wont gain much. The limiting factor is the design and weight of the gearbox internals. Its just not able to shift much faster. Make sure your foot is flat on the floor for the fastest shifts....they do seem slow compared to the 430 and glacial compared to the 458 Dual clutch.

It is technically possible to get Motec and the Ferrari trans ECU to work together, but it would be a fairly complex project and require the CAN bus information for a 360. I think Motec may have this check with them.

I'd stay with the Stock stuff, rather than open a can of worms!

    Good luck!

Carl, Josh @ ECS has had some success with a Formula Dynamics box for the 360's transmission.

If you do an Internet search with these key words "Installing a Formula Dynamics F1 Module" you should find it. There are other writeups about this box here in this forum too.

That formula dynamics piggy-back box isn't a device to go racing with, it's a device that simply alters throttle/PIS ratio. If you were to be ditching Motronics you could go with a full on Challenge TCU. To be honest, I'd go for the Challenge engine ecu's too, fitting an aftermarket unit(s) would be a huge undertaking. As mentioned, CAN connectivity would be an issue, the unit would have to be able to support the F1 system and be able to communicate with the ABS, control timing variators etc etc. the creation, from scratch, and subsequent development of the engine map would also be a mountainous task. I would think the gains over a modified map within the standard motronics would be marginal, and even less when comparing the performance capability of the Challenge Motronic.
