Does anyone know if the Vescovini boxes on a Ferrari 360 (exhaust ECU boxes that check exhaust temperature and show SLOW DOWN when catalyst overheats or ECU box mulfuctions) affect in any way performance of the engine besides triggering a SLOW DOWN and a CEL when there is a problem ?

The reason why I am asking this is because I recently replaced the right side exhaust ECU box to solve a SLOW DOWN problem (even when the engine was not warm) but I now sense a slight hesitation from the engine when I release gas pedal and reapply it after a gear change.
(car is manual with brand new clutch and throw out bearing, so no transmission issues here)

The engine just hesitates for a second and then picks up.

Could it be that the left side Vescovini box is now cutting power from the left bank (no SLOW DOWN or CEL yet) because it is about to go bad ?

Should I replace it so that both sides are new ?

    Thanks !

Did you re-set your (main) ECU after hooking up the new exhaust temp ECU ? I honestly don't know whether or not it makes a difference, but it may be worth trying.....

It would cut a bank, not cause poor acceleration. I'd say you should look elsewhere, possibly at the MAF signal output using a 'scope.
