Nice car. Especially the rear wing isn't THAT ugly, compared to other cars we've seen. The stripes on the nose remind me a bit of the old Martini design...

I agree, it is a decent looking comparing to other 2009 models.
As for the rear wing it is ugly, because were not used to. But if it surfs the purpose passing others on the track, than it will acceptable.
Your right, the stripes do look like the older Martini cars.

He may get upstaged by Sebastian Buemi.

Is Buemi really that good? I know that he has had a very impressive start with the team, but Vettel seems to still have a lot of room for growth and development.

Cmack, since this is a English spoken forum, I will answer you in English.
Vettel used a very good running Toro Rosso with an Ferrari engine last season.
I also belief, that Vettel will be Schumis successor for the coming years ahead.
Changing from Toro Rosso to Red Bull was in my opinion the right decision.
Gerhard Berger was the brain behind the Torro Rosso team.
My personal feeling is, that the Renault engine Red Bull is using will probably not have the performance of the older Ferrari engine used by Torro Rosso. But, if Vettel is able to prove more of his talent also with the Red Bull team, by appearing on the podium and score points, then I’m sure there will be a seat available for him in 2010 or 11 in one of the red cars.
It will be an interesting 2009 season, not only for the Red Bull team, but also for all the other teams two.

Right, but isn't Buemi's setup the 2008 package? Forgive the ignorance, but Formula 1 is a relatively new passion for me.

Not sure I picked up the testing times from somewhere, see if I can find out.

No worries Joe, your doing fine, there are so many variables in this sport and testing can be taken with a pinch of salt.

I believe Buemi is one to watch, Vettel has almost proved himself to be a force to be reckoned with IMO.

I agree 100%. Vettel's improvement over the year last year was just plain FUN to watch. I don't tend to have allegiances as of yet, I just enjoyed the closeness of the race.

And it is the variables that really attract me to Formula 1 (plus my love of cars.)

Actually yes, Buemi is running a 2008 spec car with 2008 spec downforce, and slicks. That's the reason why he's quickest, because STR don't have their new car yet, so they're still testing the old one.

I read about that today. Didn't he only get like 25 laps in or something? He was very wise to rebuff any questions about his initial impression(s) as it is still way too early.

FWIW. Renault was allowed by the FIA and the other teams to modify and upgrade their engine this winter. They should be more on par with the other engines.

Buemi is running the 2008 package on slicks. I'd be worried if he weren't a lot faster than Vettel in a 2009 car.

I love it when the drivers go 'round back for a look see. What do they expect to find? Unless the thing done blowed up or is leaking, there's nothing to see but the casing. Well, perhaps drivers have x-ray vision.

F1 drivers are no different than any other driver(s) on the road.
When your driving on the road and your car breaks down, the first thing is getting out of the car to see what’s wrong. More likely you cant fix any new-type engine anyway, because they are also covered with plastic casing.
