So what you're saying is that Alonso made as many self-inflicted mistakes during his entire time with Ferrari as Vettel made last season alone? :D

By the way, I love Charles too!

LMFAO, so when Leclerc bins it and retires going for a pass he's driving in anger, when Vettel does trying to pass he's making too many mistakes. Gotcha, I think I see what's going on now. Look for a scapegoat for Ferrari's issues, not looking at what the real problem is. Hint: it's not the drivers. They're probably the least of the problems at this point.

That claim is just not based in reality. Vettel locked up in Baku, hit Bottas in France, was penalized in Austria, binned it from first in Germany, spun in Italy, spun in Japan, and was penalized and spun in the USA.

A pattern from desperatation, with a healthy dose of poor confidence(in strategy) and too much self pressure. Aka....choked.

As far as I am concerned, Alonso made his mistakes off the track, where Vettel has a tendency to do them on the track.

Your barking to the wrong tree, i never complained about Sebs mistakes, in fact i always defended them and said he should go for it....imo he's tired of all the flack he has been receiving from the press, especially british elton lovers one....he's tired of all the stupid questions and probably from Ferrari's poor management, and i don't blame him.

    Preach!

If LEC hadn't flat-spotted his first set of tires in Q1 he wouldn't have had such a crap time on the board in the first place.

Some argue that if you take away Bahrain, LEC's performances are average at best with lots of little errors. Appropriate for an F1 rookie, no shame in that and LEC definitely has the potential to be a WDC but come on.

    +1

Alonso would have won in last year's Ferrari. No doubt.

My opinion is the obvious. Vettel has not been able to arrive at a winning relationship while at Ferrari. The ‘blame’ is shared by both parties. It is what it is. The hope that Seb and Ferrari need more time together is is incorrect.

LeClerc is not the future for Ferrari either. I don’t see exceptional talent or strategic intelligence.

I think Ferrari needs to come up with a clean driver slate and recognize that the Ferrari F1 car is inferior to the Mercedes. Copy then surpass
Hire one of the Mercedes drivers and engineers.

As long as people, and Ferrari, hide behind excuses, they will not move forward.

The mentality of feeling sorry for oneself and blaming the opposition for your failure is defeatist.

Mercedes is at the top now because they are better technically, operationally and politically.

Instead of blaming the FIA for alleged favouritism, why not try to find out why they listen to Mercedes more.

Maybe because they are a more credible interlocutor ?

I agree. The pressure to perform at Ferrari is very high, far higher than anywhere else. Vettel is in a tough spot. Given Leclercs' GP2 and F1 season I actually expected him to be faster, so am somewhat surprised that this isn't the case. Vettel is, by no means, slow.

Back in his early years at Toro Rosso and Red Bull, he was also too keen to perform and made too many mistakes. Once he got over the fact that and relaxed a little, his mistakes became few. And when he did make one, boy was he angry with himself. I think Vettel is highly critical of himself.

I'm critical of him, but by no means is he any slower than he was before. The mistakes are frustrating for everyone involved. I still rank him at the top 5 fastest guys in F1 currently.

Well, that's an easy one: they threatened to leave and FIA knows that they could do it because sooner or later they'll leave. At the beginning of the current regulations, that was a serious problem, as there would only two engine manufacturers left for the whole grid.

Unless Liberty stops paying or Todt pees on Enzo Ferrari's grave, Ferrari won't leave, no mather how much they threaten to leave.

Also Mercedes sponsors the championship and supports other stuff nobody cares about, like Formula E, while Ferrari is an expensive but neccessary pain in the ass for Liberty.
