Italian TV reports Vettel to Ferrari deal done for 2014 http://www.yallaf1.com/2012/06/26/italian-tv-reports-vettel-to-ferrari-deal-done-for-2014/ Is this true?
When you do a first post, you do a first post! Wow! Shame it's being denied, though. Red Bull chief denies Vettel rumors http://msn.foxsports.com/motor/story/red-bull-chief-denies-sebastian-vettel-will-join-ferrari-062412
unless they were literally throwing more money than some 3rd world countries' GDPs at him, why would vettel leave RBR?
This story isn't new, I mentioned it in my thread. At any rate there is a strong rumor that Vettel has signed an option with Ferrari for 2014. He has a competitive clause in his contract which would free him if the RB sucks next year. Of course everybody denies it but it speaks volumes that Domenicali already has a fotoshop picture of Vettel in a Ferrari suit and doesn't hide it. Bottom line is that Ferrari wants Vettel and Vettel wants Ferrari as he publicly stated. The only question is timing.
Use Vettel to get Newey? They've turned it around but even they believe they aren't the best. What about the WCC? you need vettel for that or at least someone scoring points consistently (not trying to start a massa-bashing-fest) Having vettel would make Ferrari very good IMO. Him and Alonso are very talented and together they would push eachother to preform at their very best and on their toes. Just my honest opinion.
I remember reading an article back in December where Vettel said its every boy's dream to drive for Ferrari one day and he hopes to do so. I'm sorry I couldn't find the article. I searched Google for the specified dates and nothing came up. I mentioned this same info in a post back in December. I know this post is meaningless to most, but I did read an article where he said something to that extent back in December or late November. I don't know if any of this is true since our media is more focused on celeb screw ups then things that matter (F1, duh! ) I mentioned this same info in a post back in December: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=347601&highlight=vettel+ferrari I understand your skepticism and I'm not saying you're wrong. All of this can be taken with a grain of salt. (my post and what the media reports) The only important info is what Ferrari and RBR/Vettel say.
Without Newey Red Bull would be just another team fighting for points. If Ferrari got both Vettel and Newey, Newey would be the bigger catch IMO.
This. Until I see it in the news. But for speculation sakes. I would be absolutely thrilled of this were true!!! VIA HTC SUPERSONIC CM7.2
I'm not sure pitting two #1 drivers with accompanying significant egos on the same team would make the most effective of partnerships, esp. when one of them (Vettel) has a pretty short fuse which we've seen directed even at his own teammate Webber on+off the track. Ferrari needs a #2 who will play nice with the team (not just w/ Alonso) and who can consistently put in the points, like Webber. If they can tolerate Massa's inconsistency and stay loyal to him after all this, it goes to show they will be more than willing to bring on a slower/less-talented driver than Vettel so long as he has shown he can consistently rake in the points and can compliment the team. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but personally if I was in either of Webber or Vettel's shoes I would stay put with Red Bull because Newey is there, and with Newey there it's a guarantee that I will almost always get one of the most, if not the most, competitive car on the grid. Every race car driver wants to win, Newey's genius is such a formidable, irreplaceable edge I'd have to be exceptionally displeased with the team to want to turn my back on that. I'll wager $100 bucks Vettel won't join Ferrari in 2014 or sooner.
how quickly we've all forgotten the genius of Rory Byrne , his cars were the class of the field, and that included the cars Newey was designing for McLaren
Shummi himself had recomended Vettel to ferrari in the days no one knew how good he was going to be....just the same way he recomended Kimi and Felipe. To me vettel is the best in the field, he is faster than alonso, a lot better in the rain, also very consistent, and above all he seems like a decent person...he is bound to end up in a Ferrari, and i´m pretty sure he will do very well in red.
Yes and no. Newey had some brilliant aerodynamic designs as usual. Byrne certainly had a string of magnificent cars, but I believe a key advantage Ferrari had was their close relationship with Bridgestone not to mention their constant testing with their tires and compound tweaking.
