Not now, but probably in the future. Things change very fast in F1. I suppose Ferrari are eyeing Vet as Fred's succersor.
Well, what do you expect Vettel to say anyway? Chances are he signed the option offer by Ferrari for 2014, but would he ever acknowledge that beforehand? Hell no. I forgot when Kimi signed the option with Ferrari, but it was well before 2007. And continued to deny it all the way. As did Ferrari officially, but at the factory everybody knew he was coming.
He added that he did not believe Ferrari held any real emotional pull for Vettel or that the German held any particular ambition to drive for the legendary Italian team during his career. That comment by Horner is where he lost all credibility for me: Vettel himself said that driving for Ferrari is his dream. So we know one person doesn't quite tell the truth. Also lets not forget the alleged performance clause in Vettel's contract with RB: If the car is a DOA next year, he (allegedly) has the chance to leave the team without penalty.
The suspension of credible doubt is often the key to happiness. Denial persists because it works so darn well.
Alright then. Going forward I'll take any Bernie interviews or team press conferences at their face value. They said it, therefore it must be true. Feeling better already. Thanks.
I would imagine that being friends with Schumacher, Vettel would one day want to go to Ferrari and try to surpass Michael's record there. Try.
and therein is the potential emotive tie that we have to guess about. As a kid, MS was Vettel's hero, and rightly so, and MS's team was Ferrari. Whether that carries on to anything more in his professional life and thoughts, we don't yet know.
vettel is young, his plans could change & change yet again over the next years MS was/is a hero to vettel, and he did say how driving for Ferrari was a dream ...and was for any kid in the racing ranks ...despite everything, Ferrari is still "the F1 race team" IMO and for many up & comers
Vettel has expressed his desire to drive for Ferrari more than once. He has also owned couple Ferraris, one of which was a gift.
Here's how i look at it. It's every driver's dream to drive for the Scuderia, just like it's every footballer's dream to play for Manchester United.
Inter and Bayern are all in the past. Real...well yes, but would you be willing to be on the same team full of superstars? I think Barca would be a better choice. As for United, ask Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Schemiechel...ahh the list goes on!
