It would seem that someone was very lucky to escape from this Bugatti Veyron. Possibly the first crashed Veyron. It happened near Shepperton. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ouch! Top Gear said that each Veyron cost £5mio to make but they were selling them at at £800,000 and swallowing the loss. Will they try and claw back some cash on parts prices
Ouch indeed, although the damage actually looks fairly superfical, the a pillars are undamaged. I think when Clarkson said each one costs £5m he was including R & D costs divided by the number of units expected to be sold. I doubt the parts costs add up to £5m.
Was that the first veyron in the country? gutted 800k possibly down the drain I wonder will these become classics?
no the first one in the UK is blue and black should become a classic but we will have run out of petrol by the time that happens.
I wonder if it is this one. The car was one of the first UK Veyrons. Sold by Romans. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Original thread at Evotechnik.net: http://forum.evotechnik.net/showthread.php?t=12804 Looks like the guy who got the shots is probably the same one who drove it off in a tow truck. Still not sure what happened - Motorauthority says he hit a wet patch and took on a ditch, but the poster of the thread at Evotechnik is saying he hit an Astra whose driver went to the hospital. Anyone have any more info on the owner or the circumstances? Any further sources?
this is the first veyron to be registered in the uk (thats what the guys at romans said) back in june 2006 i was lucky enough to visit romans international in the uk to see the car. makes me cringe when i see this pic. such a shame to see a piece of enginering brilliance destroyed. here are some pics when it was new.
I think that figure they were talking about taking a loss on each car included what VW spent on research and development to design the car in the first place. No way there is 5mil worth of materials in it.
I hate that site, there are quite a few cars on their where the driver or passenger have been killed but they still post them up
According to the media, the owner was Shepperton millionaire Kumar Soni. It would appear that his younger brother may have taken the car for a spin, without him knowing. Don't you just love brothers?
