I have a vibrating gear SHIFTER between 2nd gear, and 3rd gear , can anyone explain?
Yes, do you mean the shifter is rattling in the gate? Also, what model car? Many times this only requires an adjustment of the shift lever from under the car.
I had that too some time ago. There are a few parts in there that eventually wear, a spring and a couple of plastic 'pucks'. A very inexpensive job BUT I think that you have to pull the box out from underneath meaning you have to take off the undertray too. Cheap job...more labor. Call Ricambi. -Billy
Thats true...my 355 had the same issue there are a few plastic bits that eventually wear out. the undertray needs to be removed in order to replace them
+2, had mine done at Ferrari of Seattle. Adjustment was not enough, bushings were worn and need replacement. Not too bad on parts, but a bit of labor...got expensive fast. But no more rattles!
I have a pronounced vibration in 3rd. Seems to be worse when cold, but it's generally always present. I'm curious to hear what you find out about cause, parts and labor. Good luck!
As previously mentioned, you start with making sure the adjustment of the shift lever is correctly centered in the gate. If not, it can be adjusted near the gear box...follow the rod linkage back to the gear box and you will see where there are two sections that meet up, and are held by two or three bolts. There will be yellow paint markings too. The rod adjustment allows for it to be rotated a bit, clockwise or counter clockwise. If adjustment cannot correct the rattle, it may be caused by excessive play in the system, due to wear in the nylon bushings throughout. This will require disassembly and installation of the new parts, then reassembly and adjustment. That is what mine required, after several adjustments were found to not work. I am sure if you search the archives, there are threads on both the adjustment procedure, as well as the rebuild process with part numbers.

A quick search of the archives turn up this thread on the subject. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121540
That was the thread ............... I changed that #10 part out and it still buzzes ....... .................... I will look deeper into it when I get my exhaust done ...............
I got lucky and only had to replace parts 20-23 to solve my problem. Damn, I think the car heard that and something else just broke. -Billy
It was a lot of work to change out #10 ............ it was a bit dissapointing to find out it did not solve it .... though it did 'tighten the feel' an inkling ............ I am gonna try #s 46, 29 and 27 next time.
How 'bout them 348's with buzzing-vibrating shifters? Mine has been doing this for about a year now and it drives my wife so crazy she won't get in the car anymore. This occurs with the clutch both engaged and disengaged and seems to be RPM dependant. If I hold the shift lever I can get it to go quiet. I guess the wife just doesn't want to hold my knob the whole time we're driving...lol
When Ferrari of Seattle did mine, they replaced all the bushings...between parts and about four hours labor, it was over $800 fix. When I first got it back, it was TIGHT. As if something were not right...but it loosened a bit over time, and feels just right now, 10 months later.
That price sounds reasonable if it included parts ......... ............ I will certainly get into this again .......... after my exhaust is done ........
