I had the car on service at an authorized ferrari workshop (it has been on the annual service the last 3 years in the same workshop). The car F430-05 has about 27000 km / 16,777 mi. Manifold done 3 years ago. This time it went in on an regular annual service. I ask them before service if they could check a vibration coming from the exhaust. It sounds especially when you cold start the car but also sometimes when running and engine braking. I told them that I thought it was a exhaust bracket (right word?) and that they could tighten it. The ferrari technician came back later the same day, telling me that the sounds comes from the arm that controls the vacuum valves on the exhaust pipes right + left . Costs about $6850 to fix. Alot for fixing some vibration. I said no. But the vibration has gotten worse and more often and people noticing it because the car sounds clattering/broken. So I asked the dealer more specifically what they are doing if they should fix it and they said they would channge the tailpipes from the muffler to fix the problem. Is this a common issue on F430? Anyone had similar problem? Are there any other ways to fix this?
There was a recall for the exhaust bracket - many threads eg http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/438642-f430-exhaust-bracket-broke-two.html
ahh thanks! Is it really necessary to change the tailpipe then? Would a new exhaust bracket perhaps fix the problem? I tested to hold my fot against the tailpipe and then the vibration stoped.
