I had to bring my car (328 GTS) into the shop due to a bad vibration/noise when I would accelerate. Brought the car to RPM Racing (best on Long Island) and they found two heat shields loose, and the main cause was the cover on the timing belt was missing some hardware. While they removed the heat shield he noticed that the fuel line connecting the two gas tanks was brittle. That's the main reason that I'm posting this. Guys, check the fuel lines! These cars are old and the rubber lines just dry up. Everyone with a 1989 and older should have their fuel lines checked/changed. It will save your life. By the way, I had a major 2 1/2 yrs ago (not by RPM) and they should of checked the fuel lines and made sure that the hardware was properly installed on the timing belt.

You REPLACE all fuel lines on a proper major service, IIRC.

Good to hear you caught it. They often skip the filler neck 'cuz it's difficult, or think a visual inspection is OK, but there's a lot of heat under the hood of these cars and a small leak can ruin your whole day!

    Glad you are fine!
