Here is a vid of a 430 run in Japan from rennteam. It runs against a bunch of cars. At the end it runs against a GT3 Clubsport (381hp) and the 430 loses off the line, and has a VERY hard time passing it after 3 laps. Check it out. Doesn't the 430 have 480HP?...does Ferrari overstate the HP? It's actually pretty sad. http://www.filefactory.com/get/f.php?f=fd7576ef9de72a2fbcb9b7aa
Maybe I'm the dummy here, but I didnt see anywhere on that page to download a file. Lots of ads and popups, but no video. Am I doing something wrong?
Umm. First off the GT3 is a track day car....second teh F430 still beats it, lapping it, no matter how many laps is damn good....further more yoy have no idea of the class of drivers....this vid really proves nothing.
First, I wouldn't call an Oval a track. You would think a GT car, which is what the 430 is then, by your definition, would eat it alive then, like it did the Gallardo. Second, you would think launch control, 490hp vs 380hp and 150lb/ft more torque would smoke it like it did the Gallardo.
Only in Porsche parlance is winning losing and sad. What is sad is a GT2 will lose in depreciation within 2years what it would cost to buy a Z06 which would smoke the GT2. Now that is really sad.
In 10 posts, you've managed to start two trolls; doesn't seem like you really care to learn anything about F-cars, but just prove in your own mind that they're not worth it compared to P-cars. As far as the GT3/430 video; if you believe that shows the GT3 is the better car, then you're welcome to go buy a GT3 instead. However, check out an Evo before you do; I've heard they're pretty mean and maybe would beat up a GT3 on the track too. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77181
WTF are you? 10 posts and 1 of them can be defined to be not negative about Ferrari. WTF don't you go back where you come from? People come here because they like Ferrari's and want to talk about them, not to listen to trolls like you. Go back to the garage an jerk off over daddy's Porsche.
The GT3 is a great car, very well balanced, a true Porsche, the comparison of the 2 is not a fair match up, a GT2/430 would be the right comparison.
Just out of curiosity in what article did the 430 smoke the Gallardo? ( I'd like to read the article! ) Regards, Chris
It was in the video mentioned at the start of the thread (280MBytes), Best Motoring's test of the 430 in Japanese. I finally got it downloaded and viewed the whole thing. I really can't tell if these guys were racing seriously or just playing it up for the viewers (it's all in Japanese). An example oddity. the 430 beats the Gallardo off the line; then the Gallardo seems to catch up on the banked turn; and as the track straightens up, the Gallardo continues to blow by the 430; then the next lap, the 430 turns the tables and does the same thing to the Gallardo (catches up on the banked turn and beats it on the exit). Similar role reversals seem to take place in the 430/GT3 "race". It just feels "staged".
The F430 slows on the banks and allows its opposition to go ahead/catch up for power tests on the straights.. that was the point a "power" test, high speed 200-260kmh . Those tests were serious, first 1/4 in sport and then they show you the real time in race mode ( 12.2 ). The Gallardo isnt able to launch, maybe because of the clutch ? Best Motoring has a habit of moding cars and not letting the viewers let on.. I believe this GT3 was loaned by a private owner ( as most of their exotics are ) hence the 430's difficulty to catch it. The porsches traction off the line was immense but I guess thats not the point of exotics.. I think with a manual transmission the 430 would be looking at 11.9 - 12.1.
CharlesGT2 made the same post (under the name of RR) on Rennlist's GT3/GT2 Forum and couldn't even get any support from his Porsche brethren, so he had to come over to F-Chat to stir things up.
I'd like to see the rest of this. Wheres the track race... I think Best Motoring is a credible program however that GT3 looks like it could have some serious hardware under the boot. They are known to make blunders (i.e the camber that was off during the 360cs mega test track race on the gallardo which caused it to peform like a dog, they did mention it though.) Its a shame we couldnt see a track race, as I think that would give the real story on the performance of these cars. anyone know where to get the 2nd part of this vid.
All this talk is b.s. The most important factor is how good the driver is, period. I'm gonna sort of "quote" an Spaniard, Ask not what your car can do, but what can you do for your car.
THats true Bluecam, but Ive seen 430s under full launch in a few other vids. They left the line much quicker than this one ? http://www.fastdrive.org/download.php?view.531
Give me a couple of months and I'll settle this argument! I have a 2004 GT3 and about 30 hours of track time at Barber Motorsports Park (here in Birmingham, AL), and have a F430 that should be here within the month. I intend to take them to the track together. It still may not be a fair test, as I have lots of GT3 experience, no Ferrari experience and the GT3 is now putting out close to 380 hp at the wheels. That being said, I'll still be able to get a good reading on comparing both cars.
If you watch closely, at the end of the video, when the cars pass over the camera to show their undersides, after the F430 passes, classical music plays in the background while the camera begins to show some "artistic" shots of the F430... then the video abruptly ends
