Hi all, I bought my Mondial Valeo a couple of months ago and I am going to do a few videos about getting it back on the road. It has been off the road for 28 years after someone messed up the Valeo ECU. Anyway I thought I would post the videos here in the hope that they may help someone as I will try to add in details and such. Speaking of which, thank you to people who posted about doing a cambelt change with engine in car. I may use that technique to get her on the road and then do engine out later next year,
Will be cool to watch your journey. I'm doing the same but mine is all good thank god, I'm just doing add ons
Haha ...buyers remorse. My QV was much worse when buying in 2002 and I still have this car and never did have remorse at all. Just jump in to this adventure and make the best of it. Once all problems resolved, you are going to enjoy it more.
Thanks both, I am now deep into the work, struggling looking for bits and as always there have been nasty surprises and pleasant ones.
Hi all, Well I am getting on with it slowly. Could have done without finding water in the oil… there was a lot, but it does seem to be condensation… I hope. Rebuilding a forgotten Ferrari Mondial T - oil issues & windscreen mess - Part 2
Hm, that is a lot of water in the oil. I hope for you it is only condensation. Nice video by the way. Always useful to see how those windows are put.
Thanks very much. I did not swear much, in fact I just went quiet, which is probably worse… I am feeling somewhat better now as I have done a few tests and samples since (after oil change) and so far they have got better each time and are now clear. I really need to just drive the car and monitor it. Not sure how effective catch cans are, I will go see if there is water in there later.
Is it possible that this car was sitting a long time outside and rain could enter the air inlet box somehow ?Did you check the air inlet box if any water was intering there before ?Or in some other hose connected with the engine that allowed water entering ?
Well I did witness marks in the throttle bodies that could be condensation. The way the air filter and intakes are would make it difficult for rain water to get in I think. However every time the engine is started, quite a lot of condensation is generated particularly in humid Britain. Twenty starts over the last year and no running to burn it off… I am hopeful and certainly the oil sampling i have done recently is looking good. Fingers crossed!
