Stolen vehicle and they risked all those lives? WTF? Why didn't they just drop off and follow with a helo? I can understand a police chase for armed and dangerous criminals but for a stolen car? When they tap the rear like that it's very possible the car will flip and risk more lives...... stupid IMO, but the driving not bad. He should have moved further left before the last tap so he had the room to spin. Glad no one was hurt....

Thats terrible the way the police treated him after such skill was displayed and driving technique.

Your right Jet, I think they should have just pulled up next to him and shot him in the head to get it over with. How about saying, why would that idiot steal a car and run from the cops, and put the blame where it should be.

in south africa they (the police) have the right to do anything possible to end a car chase. which inculdes leaning out a window while driving a car and shooting there sub machine guns at the car to end it as fast as possible... pretty crazy

    Great vid!

If that would have happened in Sweden the police would be prosecuted.
The Policecars should've backed off and just followed him with the helicopter.

To everyone who says these police actions would not be allowed in their country:

You should know that it is not intended to risk lives unnecessarily or because of a lack of concern for the suspect's life but, rather, because of a great concern for the lives of every other motorist whom he puts at risk by his actions.

Nudging cars like this is seen as a last resort. This chase would have been going on long before this video clip begins. When the criminal is endagering the lives of every other motorist on the road, then it becomes time to act. It is a calculation by the police, and one that they would rather not have to make - it not only is risky and dangerous but also causes damage to their own vehicles.

When it is clear that the criminal will not stop, they have to stop his car in this manner and/or with spike strips, otherwise more than just one person might die.

I noticed that as well the first time I watched the clip..

Gotta love the OKC police techniques.. Very quick to try to end the chase, and then their gentle apprehension.

    1. I understand what you are saying, but intended or not, it does risk lives.

    2. Sure but if they had backed off earlier in the chase then they wouldn't have had to use this "last resort".

    3. No they don't, once the chopper is following, they can back off some distance away and let this guy think he's gotten away.

You have to understand what the general policy of police departments is. You don't get away, you don't get to think you get away. You get apprehended ASAP.

And who knows what the person would of done had he been allowed free reign (IE no trailing cop cars). All it takes is for him to stop in front of a house, run out and take hostages and suddenly the situation is much, much worse

Cant judge what the cops should have done given we weren't there and I agree with a previous post this is only a few minutes of a wild chase that could have been much longer. However, Im just wondering because of where they got him and the length he was in that lane ( which is the ideal choice lane for those criminal idiots, ) why didn't a trooper just hide on the otherside of the concrete barrier and throw down a spike strip at the last second? This would have shielded him from the car itself and made the left tires blow out maybe increasing the chance the Stang would have stayed away from traffic. Remember the infamous tank chase, it's downfall was the concrete devide.

Chase started in MWC, which borders OKC on the East. Location of the end of the chase is around 10 miles from MWC, but no telling how long he had been trying to lose the PD.
