    It says something when a premier auto journalist who is pro Porsche (and has driven everything) and anti-"flappy paddle" steps up and buys a 599GTB
    Looking for something else on youtube and stumbled on this;

    He sold the 599 because he could not believe how much it cost to keep serviced.

    From Jun2013 Carscoops article:
    Chris Harris seemed plenty chuffed last year when he bought his very own second-hand 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB. You may remember him making the argument for buying the car, and how 599s were plentiful and had come down in price – if your memory acting up, see the video below. However, Mr. Harris has now been faced with the brutish reality of actually owning one, and has sold the car.
    In a posting on Pistonheads, he said it is a case of overestimating one’s financial power and underestimating the running and maintenance costs associated with a car like the 599.
    Apparently, it cost Harris “£10,000 for around 3,000 miles,” or about $15,230 / €11,700, which he covered in a little over 10 months. This includes storing the car, insuring and fueling it, as well as the tires he bought for it last summer – probably the rears, and definitely not cheap.
    Still he doesn’t regret the experience, despite losing the money, saying that he “loved climbing into it at night and blasting back from the airport when the roads were empty as it just chewed the miles like they were insignificant,” and praising the V12 engine for its power, noise and robustness. His only regret is having taken the car to only 190 mph (304 km/h), at which point “it was still pulling.”
    He ended his rambling by asking readers what should he buy next.

    It's very old. Even pre F12 days. He sold a 997 GT3 and got a 599.

    I seriously doubt he will exchange his current GT3 RS for a 599.
