Came across this earlier today, apologies if it has been posted before. Some great details and a lot of 308GT4 content, including inside the Body and Paintshop at Scagliette.
Wonderful. And good to see GT4 bodies being made alongside Boxers at Scaglietti after the video goes to Modena. Proof they were not made at Bertone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great post thanks! nice to see the people and car culture in the 70s , Ferrari , Dinos and Fiats cuddled up with each other. Add a good narrator and some editing, we would have a nice lil documentary.
Not seen that before. Thanks for posting. What a truly wonderful bit of film. That is a piece of history.
And that little clip of the back of Enzo (I assume) disappearing round the corner at the Cavallino. Wonderful
I've watched it a few times now and notice new things each time. Interesting to see the early type chrome door mirrors on the 308GT4s. Some round like the 246 and some rectangular.
Thanks for posting. Maranello looks more like the first time I was there than it does now. Too bad film was not as good in the dark as digital cameras are. Many indoor shots its hard to see anything. Surprised the factory still had so many 246 and Daytonas around when the 308 and Boxer was already in full production.
Great video. You can really get the idea of them all being a hand made car. Things were never perfect on them and now you can see why.
Always strikes me how unimpressive the paint finish was on those cars when new compared to modern restorations. In one scene it appears there is a worker doing touch up paint on a GT4 just in the shop, no paint booth, and newspaper for masking!
That's what I noticed too, masked with newspaper at 21:20. They were expensive cars back in the day but were no where near as flawlessly built in the factory compared to the imacculate stand of restoration they receive today. Thats why they say, there're only original once.
Oh come on, that is one of the most enjoyable videos to watch!!! What amazing footage. Thank you for sharing!
I suggest that this was shot in late spring 1974. Note the redundant 312PB body panels stacked up (they finished racing at the end of the 73 season) plus the green grass (not summer browned) and plenty of GT4s (launched at the Paris Show in Nov 73 but at the time of the film obviously in full production). Another thing for GT4 owners to note is that as far as I can make out all the GT4 sills are painted in body colour. Not saying it might not have been different later but that is how they seem to have been in 74.
Thank you very much for sharing this video: fantastic. I visited the Factory in late 1971 (when I was nine years old!) and this video shows exactly what are my memories of that unforgettable visit. I mean the Yellow (already) old buildings and all that mess, many engines sitting and waiting for a car body, and long crackshafts around the assembly line. How different Maranello is today! Amusing to see a brand new VW T1 travelling in Maranello smain square! The old cars (with the black 308 GT4 on the lorry going inside, the 250 TDF, the silver 246 and the crashed 365 GT4 ) were at Ferrari Garage in via Triento e Trieste, Modena, the old Ferrari official factory since 1929: in 1973 in that building there was the official Ferrari Service (Enzo Ferrari private property), (and maybe already, sure there were ten years later) the training school and the tech manuals dept. At first floor there was Enzo Ferrari office. Now there is a parking instead of that historic building, but I saw it many times before it was erased to the ground. And what an emotion to see the Commendatore at Cavallino: I still remember the day I met him as it was happened yesterday Fantastic: thanks for sharing again, as a tons of fantastic Youth memories come to my mind thanks to this video! ciao
that video is totally fake man! I didn't see any of the workers drinking wine on the job!!!! me scusi!!! me scusi!!! What a treasure of a video! i didn't see any big bumper cars..... Maybe Ill watch it again, and again and again!!!
I missed this and scanned for the moment. What time is he on? This confirms so much about manufacturing processes, and scaglietti's involvement with the GT4 as was discussed in a recent thread!

Well...if I wanted to nitpick, I would say that the video proves that SOME were built at Carrozzeria Scaglietti. Unless we have seen ALL GT4S in the video, there is still a remote possibility that some others were built elsewhere. Just kidding, of course! That seems to settle the question once and for all. Rgds
Maybe the first prototypes were produced at Bertone, I have no idea. The production ones were all made at Scaglietti ciao
Depending on available capacity at Scaglietti I could see Ferrari initially using multiple fabricators for the chassis and body panels in order to build up a buffer stock for final assembly.
