Hello Folks, As winter is now officially over as the nice cars are coming out to play the West of Scotland Ferrari owners club had our first run of the year on Sunday. Little video below to celebrate the occasion, hope you enjoy it Blowing off the cobwebs - Tartan Tarmac John.
Very nice, great shots, good music, bucolic setting You are quite the tourism ambassador Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What great roads to be driving a Ferrari on. Was the overhead video taken from one of those small drones? Alan
Yeah the aerial shots are using a DJI Phantom 2 with 3 axis stabilised gimbal, there's isn't a version without music, hard to get good engine sounds when the gopro's have the waterproof door on them, was expecting more rain, and the aerial stuff just gets buzzing props, it wasn't going to be possible to me to enjoy the run and have a setup for external audio John.
Thanks guys, glad you like it, Kevin do you mean how long have I had it or what is the flying time? Both answers here anyway i've only had the phantom for about a month now but i've got about 5 years flying RC helicopters which are much harder than flying the phantom and you get around 15-20 mins flying time on a battery. John.
How long you had it....thanks! I am soooooo close to getting one of these! Anything you would spec differently on it if you were to buy again?
I'm actually really happy with it, DJI quality control isn't great, i've got a little issue when the gimbal initialises that started after the software auto updated my firmware when all i wanted to do was change the speed of the tilt but it sorts itself out after a minute or two I also have an RC immersion 250mw downlink to a black pearl monitor that has built in receiver and i have a mount that connects the monitor to my radio so you can hold the radio and see what your shooting at the same time. The monitor is a must, i went about a week without it but to get any kind of accurate shots you need the monitor. The great thing about the phantom 2 is that it is plug and play without any requirement to do any tuning, the gimbal works, the phantom is easy to fly if you already have some experience and it produces great results. There are a few good forums for the aerial stuff if your interested, phantompilots and rcgroups are a couple I frequent John.
Hi Ronnie, it was the hero 3+ black edition, the phantom gimbals are designed for the hero3, the hero2 is a little heavier although i've seen someone use the previous h3-2d gimbal with a hero2 and it seemed to work fine, not seen anyone try a hero2 with the h3-3d yet John.
This is nice also, no price yet though: Parrot Bebop Drone. Lightweight yet robust quadricopter - 14 megapixel sensor with Full HD 1080p - Sky Controller - 3-axes image stabilization
Well done John ,really nice video,it was a great day out, andyour drone has done a wonderful job of showing our lovely countryside............along ith a few damn nice cars too
Yeah saw that one the other day, i heard it was going to be more expensive than the phantom and all the stabilisation of the footage is done digitally by using a large sensor to digitally stabilise down to 1080, will be interesting to see it in action. John.
