www.lumus-optical.com/ If I recall the first model should be out in mid-2009 and is going to sell for a few hundred dollars (I don't have a exact figure I'm afraid). This looks like a pretty cool idea once they get all of the bugs worked out and streamline the design so the glasses don't come out of some 70s or 80s sci-fi flick. Although I would be more interested in buying some stock in the company.
I've tried it. Its OK but nothing to write home about. The image is "ok" but you feel like you're in some kind of strange room closed off from the outside world. Most people don't like wearing any kind of glasses for any length of time. It's annoying on that level. And, you still look like a geek wearing one... that's the biggest problem for me and why I don't think it will ever really catch on. It suffers from an overabundance of geekiness.
That sounds a lot what myvu has out. I know that most video glasses are made to close out the world. But it looks like lumus' design allows the user to see the outside world while pulling GPS directions, catching up on their email and things like that (kind of like a heads up PDA system). All of this is supposed to be in a design that looks like it would be no different than the glasses you would see at Pearle Vision. Granted it sounds geeky but, I have always have a soft spot for gadgetry.
