To be honest, a little disappointing. I was expecting much more of a screamer at 20,000 revs. Hopefully, there is more in store that this video doesn't provide us.

Here is the link, video download on the center of the homepage:

The sound sounds like it is muffled perhaps by the ducting to vent fumes out of the dyno cell. Also the positioning of the microphone can change the sound of the exhaust note.

One other thing to think about is the fact that other F1 teams have been know to place microphones trackside and study the exhaust note of other teams to detect firing order, rev limit and even calculate HP. In fact here are a couple of SAE papers that deal with acoustic analysis of race engines

Currently Minardi is planning on using a rev limited V10 for 2006 with BMW leaving Williams it is a good chance that the Cosworth V8 will be mounted in the Williams.

The biggest issue was that Cosworth was already deep into the design of the V8 when Red Bull announced they would be switching to Ferrari. So it was assumed that Sauber would go to Cosworth then BMW bought Sauber. So that pretty much leaves Williams hanging out in the breeze.

    No, its back up now.

I went through the Google cache to try and download it but the site was completely inaccessable.

They probably had a glitch or there was a problem with my ISP's DNS.

With how classified things are in F1, we will never know how much horsepower the motors are producing. With today's cars producing some 900 hp, I am sure its more like 1000 hp. With technology, they will figure out a way to have the V8 put out 850 or even 900 hp.

Go to A1 gp website. On the homepage there are clips of the car on track. The motors are 3.4 liter V8, reving at 15,000 rpms. They actually sound very similar to current F1 cars. I am sure once we here the F1 V8 on the track it won't sound very different from the V10

Actually it might sound even better. Because they'll be reving at 21K to 22K RPM.
