    i thought i saw a video a few years ago of a f1 car [ferrari?] motorcycle and a fast street car ,it showed the car starting first then bike then 15-20 secs later the f1 car started and beat everybody

    In the Australian GP they do this but no motorcycle is involved. The first car is a road car, then they have a Aussie V8 Supercar (a saloon based race car) and a F1 car.

    This has been done many times by Ferrari and McLaren over the years at least since the early '90s. No matter how adavanced street cars get, they are still miles behind F1. :D There are street cars out there now that can accelerate with amazing ferocity, but they will always be limited by comparitively weak braking and downforce and massive weight. So they won't close the gap much unless Bernie decides to further govern F1 cars to ridiculous levels. :eek:

    This thread fails to deliver :(

    As PSk mentioned the speed challenges happen at the Australian GP nearly every year.

    It's awesome to see the F1 car come out of the last corner while the 2 other cars are half way down the straight and it beats them both to the 1st corner :D The V8Supercar looks like it's standing still when the F1 car flies past!
