It's on trade plates, so technically it's not road legal as such, but legal to drive on the road to the MoT center. It's a big grey area, technically speaking what they're doing is illegal, but hard to prove (before a drive just call to an MoT centre for an appointment...)

Some rumors say there is also a swiss FXX that should be road legal ... any information about that?

The Swiss-FXX is painted silver and nobody is sure if it is a real street legal FXX or a deal "under friends".

So it's no one of the EDO Enzo conversions?

Not many cars draw attention away from an MC12 and a black Enzo.

    Cool.

You do not need to be taking the car for MOT to be covered via the trade plates (MOT excuse is just one, which joe public can use without trade plates provided the garage has prior knowledge of car going to garage).

You can use trade plates to pick up a car to transport it home or deliver to customer or even test drive ( just as garages do with new cars). But I do know people that use trade plates just to use car until end of the month so they can gain an extra month tax, although trade plate has restrictions regarding number of passengers and can be taken of the owners if abused.

A friend who was prosecuted for picking up 2 cars with one set of trade plates and both drivers were speeding where one had one plate and the other was in the other car got a warning and £80 fine although this was about 10 years ago.

Regarding exhaust it reminds me of a Mitsubishi evo ( 3yr old jap import) which was bought at auction, I took it for MOT on trade plates (no English plates as not registered yet), it was all ok regarding MOT except straight through stainless exhaust, guy said as I know you I'll let it go, so with the new MOT the car had to go for inspection to the Ministery at their building 40 miles away on trade plates, and the Ministery examiner had a field day with the digital camera and dragged a class room of future mot inspectors in the workshop to show them what is not acceptable. I was reprimanded by them (as was the garage who issued the MOT later that week).

I had to beg the use of an original exhaust from a car at a local garage to pass the SVA Test (single vehicle approval).

Even better re using it for ''test drive'' :). I lived in the UK for a couple of years and when I was leaving they started getting stricter with the SVA's, but stopped following it at that point since it wasn't relevant to me anymore.

I've seen pictures of this FXX all last week, and I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about. Enthusiast/owners convert track cars to street cars and vice versa all the time. It's nothing new.

I thought none of these had been released by the factory?

Yeah the owner is free to do what they want with it. They don't have to keep it at the factory.
