So... For all of you who live in a cave or those of you who are not from NY, a really tragic, horrible, mindless act of rage and stupidity.
Every Wednesday night, Kevin, Leif and I go to 1849. $7 pitchers and .20 wings. We love it there. Awesome time. Well Michael and Eva came with us.

So around 9ish we (Michael, Eva and I) are walking down Sullivan Street to go to the bar. (as we are walking, we see 2 APO's(auxilary Police Officers) we looked at them and noticed one of them looked like Kevin, smiled and continued on) We get to the front of the bar and it is a little crowded, probably because of the nice weather. We were waiting in line to get in. Now, because I know the owner and we are always there I left my ID in the car. A new bouncer comes up and asks for ID.
    Bouncer: ID please
Me: Ummm, I dont have it, but Mario knows who I am, I never bring ID
Bouncer: Who? Sorry hun, gotta have ID. Where is it?
Me: Mario, the owner, are you kidding me? My friends are inside, he knows me.
    Bouncer: Sorry Hun, no ID.
So, as I curse him out and walk away from him to go back to my car, Mario comes out and tells me its ok to come back in. Not more than 3 minutes, we get into the bar and we hear shots. A good 30 seconds of shots. Everyone at first was kinda weirded out. No one knew what to do. Duck, scream, run? Kevin kinda pushed me out of the way from the door. After commotion and whatnot we learned that it was gunshots. We had to stay in the bar til about 2 am. The detectives took everyones ID and asked if they saw anything. I almost passed out, from what? I am not really sure, it could have been from being so hot inside the bar or because I was scared. We were finally able to leave. It was really scary. When they let us out of the bar, it was a crime scene.
The reason I am writing this is because Michael and I saw those 2 APO's. We were the last people to see them before they were fatally shot. Had Mario not seen me, I would have been right where those two cops were.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the two Officers families and friends. They were so young and just trying to do their job. A job they dont even get paid for.
Stuff like this makes you realize how important life is and how precious and short it really is.

A horrible a senseless story. Glad you are OK Tom. May those men R-I-P.

BTW - did you catch any crap for not having ID when interogated? Under other circumstances I"ll bet Mario wldve gotten heat for that.

Apparently I know one of the uniformed officers that might have shot the guy. I was off that night at least. Hits very close to home, it's in the area I work in and we look a lot like cops at first glance. It could have been one of us. My thoughts and prayers go out to APO Nicholas Pekaro and APO Eugene Marshalik along with the pizzeria worker, RIP.....

This is really sad because one of the APOs was an NYU student, I didnt know him but the kid was only 19, the school is very lucky because we had our Spring Break this weak and usually that area is always full of students. Odd thing was I ate at Demarcos a day before this happend.

I take what you say to heart, it is so true. 2 nights ago I got into my first accident ever, and with who? cop who was FLYING with no lights on, sirens:nothing as I was inching out if a paking lot and clipped my front end while then swerving past me at an extreme rate of speed, had I left earliee and got hit in my door I probably wouldn't be typing this :(

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families and friends, these whackos out there are insane, so scary knowing anyone you walk past can be like that!
