I just did a Vin search at the link I provided. It only tells you if the vehicle has been stolen or reported as a total loss.

Thanks Red27; Carbon tried to help out but my VIN is old (1969 Firebird) and evidently Carfax is for newer 17 digit VINs. I was just curious about the history of my old classic, nothing urgent.

Jay, I have done dozens of history research projects on cars I have owned, working backwards. What I do is start with current State of registration ie; your DMV, they should have a copy of the title from where it came from. Then you contact that State DMV and get their records to the title when it came into that State and so on. As an example I traced my GT4 (in 1989) all the way back to the MSO from Ferrari I had to check with 4 States to get the entire history it can take some time but it can be done. Regards, Vern
