Does anyone out here know vin # ZFFYU51A020130134? It is for sale at CNC in CA. Any information would be welcome. 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena, $99,999 - Cars.com Also if I move forward is there anyone in the Ontario area that can put their eyes on the car for me? I'm in North Carolina and would rather not trek across the country to be disappointed! Thank you in advance for any input.
Not near Ontario but seems a little pricey? Including the mileage, and age...seems more 80kish? I quit taking the Ferrari market letter after I bought my car...anyone have one handy? Its a good resource. Good luck getting your car!
Thanks Brett, I haven't begun to even negotiate price, however I think they price all their cars to have room to move. I get FML. Service records are lacking but they are willing to send car for PPI. I'm hoping to find Fchat member in area to go look at car and give me preliminary report.
I had F & M do my PPI....$300 dollars. Giuseppe drove it hard, removed the panels, inspected for body damage, leaks, etc. Said computer would tell him if leak down & compression test would be needed. Came back with all go to purchase. Can't say it was the most complete PPI form I've seen...rather simple...but the guy knows these cars like the back of his hand...english..not so good though. Good Luck Giuseppe Cappalonga is a factory trained technician for Ferrari and Maserati in the Los Angeles Area. In the past, Giuseppe owned a Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini repair shop from 1980 to 1994 called Targa Florio in Van Nuys, CA. Giuseppe Cappalonga worked as a technician at Ogner Motorcars, which is now the Auto Gallery for a combined 7 years and he just left Ferrari of Beverly Hills to open F & M Motorsports. Giuseppe Cappalonga was a technician there for 4 yrs. Also for the people who have been around Ferrari for a while, Giuseppe worked at Hollywood Sportscars from 1970 to 1980. Even going further back, Giuseppe was a technician for a gentleman named Sal DiNatale at S & A Sportscars from 1966 to 1970.
Deal with Cam as he is a decent guy and will work with you to make the deal right. I like the guy and find him easy to deal with. I almost bought a 430 Spider from him last year, but ended up ordering my 458. I found him to be fair and decent. The car looks great and has a 6MT...make it happen! Good luck and definitely have the PPI. Giuseppe sounds like the man! P.S. I have no personal interest whatsoever in the car, Cam, or Giuseppe. Just sharing my experience.
That car is priced at a premium. Could be the mods or the gated manual. I like some of the mods. I could loose the wheels and the blacked out tail lights personally but I really like the CS front bumper and some of that carbon inside looks very good. If any of it is just a laminate or sticker or some carbon wrapped over fiberglass I would run from the car. I don't know why the PO would only go part way on the carbon. Why wouldn't he do the gauge panel? This is odd to me. Also I think that you will want to understand why the stickshift in the car rests at this very odd place in 3rd gear. It should not be engaged in gear in this position and if not being held it should return back to the center of the gate. If the car was priced with a deep discount I could understand but pricing it at such a level demands a little more "perfection" IMHO. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I asked dealer if we move forward would it be possible to find a set of 430 wheels and lose the HRE's. I'm not a fan either. I didn't notice the gear shifter, thank you. I'll ask about the carbon fiber. I feel the same about the price, and I've noticed all their cars are priced high. I figure it's gives them room to bargain. I'm waiting to here back from them on a few questions I've asked. Thanks for the input.
Your welcome, I wonder if these aftermarket center consoles move the gate around? If it comes with all the original parts I could look the other way more easily too. Edit, It would be nice to know if the bumper is a real CS bumper or a 100lb fiberglass aftermarket one...again because they are pricing it as a real CS bumper IMO.
It's why I like this site. I would have never known to ask about the bumper. I couldn't imagine trying to buy a ferrari without being armed with this wealth of knowledge. Thanks again.
If its a real CS bumper there will be a Ferrari part number on the inside of it someplace but it is doubtful that it could be found without a lot of work. I think it is an RTM part that is of a material other than fiberglass. I think it is a type of plastic or epoxy pressure formed part. Wikipedia confirms this: ..."In total, the Challenge Stradale is up to 110 kg (243 lb) lighter than the standard Modena if all the lightweight options are specified such as deleted radio, lexan (plexiglass) door window and Alcantara fabric (instead of the leather option). As much as 94 kilograms (207 lb) was taken off on the car by lightening the bumpers, stripping the interior of its sound deadening and carbon mirrors and making the optional Modena carbon seats standard. Resin Transfer Moulding was utilized for the bumpers and skirts, a carry over from the Challenge cars which resulted in lighter bumpers than on the Modena. The engine and transmission weight was slimmed down 11 kg (24 lb) through the use of a smaller, lighter weight sports (yet still stainless steel) exhaust back box and valved exit pipes. The Challenge Stradale also got Brembo carbon ceramic brakes as standard (which later became standard fitment on the F430) which shaved 16 kg off the curb weight and improved handling by reducing unsprung weight and completely eliminating brake fade."... I think real CS parts will not hurt the value of a 360, nor very well fabricated carbon fiber because it saves weight and is beautiful to look at but a bunch of cheap add ons is going to kill you down the road since this is already a mid mile car.
Price way TOO HIGH! Fair price from a DEALER would be mid 70'S CF Console about 1300.00 bucks. Good luck! Sorry I forgot its a coupe..
IMHO... Seems overpriced. Seems like they are asking retail for all the upgrades...wheels, carbon fiber, brakes and bumper. My guess would be 80-90k....
One more possibly minor thing I noticed, It has a CS gas door. Not a big deal, but that's a pretty expensive mod for only a tiny prancing horse and a slightly different shape. That would make me question whether the car has been crashed/painted. Obviously its possible that he just wanted the CS gas door and changed it out, but I'd want to see the stock gas door. The only reason i think this way is because when my 360 was crashed, i was going to add that gas door since the original had to be replaced anyway.
I grabbed a picture of my gate for you with car in third gear for reference. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Something is out of place for sure. Time for Hill engineering? Guys I appreciate all the help on this. You guys have caught several issues my untrained eyes did not see. Keep it up. Thanks again.
For reference, a 6spd 2003 Red/Tan coupe with 19k miles in what looked like excellent condition just sold on fchat for $89k. I just bought a F1 Red/Tan 2003 with 13k miles, no Daytona's with a few body blemishes but mechanically excellent with fresh services for $78k.
I'm gonna go see the car later today. The only thing I have in my database on this car is that it was for sale through Rick Jackson in Oxnard, CA, in September, 2003, red calipers, one owner, 4,600 miles. Without seeing the car first, I can't really pass judgment, but: 1. The rear Challenge grille looks a bit beat up. 2. The steering wheel is either non-original, or the original was altered. A 360 steering wheel has little horns pressed into the leather of the nine-o'clock and three-o'clock spokes. 3. The calipers used to be red - now they're yellow. 4. The CarFax is clean, but it still makes me wonder...
