Maybe others have seen this before but it popped up on Youtube 2 days ago. Looks like it was shot in Italy in the mid 70's. There's some interesting aggressive driving that you don't see much more of today with Dino videos.

Italian. I can't get youtube to translate but the images are worth the look

If I drove my old lady like that she would bite my butt.

Interesting they used two UK cars in the film !

It was done more in the eighties, maybe late eighties even, when you look at the other cars in traffic.

What is interesting is that Gino Rancati seems to be dubbed; look carefully the spoken words do not match his lips and the voice is that of a younger man.
So it may have been an English production -hence the right hand drive car(s) later dubbed to Italian. Not sure he spoke English, not common then....so it may have been dubbed to English initially and then redone later dubbed in Italian...
Rancati was born in 1923 and he looks about at least 65, 70 in the video no? Pity the tape, probaly an old video cassette, is cooked.
I think it was filmed on lake Magiore, could be lake Como but I favor Maggiore, Stresa.

Great to see them driven properly as opposed to shiny and sterile on concours lawns:)

Here is the original version in English. The RHD Rosso Chiaro car registration RPA 61L is #05902.

Wonderful thank you, great to see it properly!

That is Rancati's actual voice under the Brit voice over. It is indeed filmed in and above Stresa.

The driving bits are wonderful: THAT is what they are born for, not greedculation or concours lawns:D!

Gino Rancati was considered a cultured journo, elegant man, from another time and above all, passionate about engines.

One of the mythological few in Italy. Was almost 100 when he died last year.
    Great friends with Mr. Ferrari.

Thank you for the great Video!
    Regards, Alberto

All your comments are correct except that he passed away decades ago in 1998:

I also think that is the late 1980's. Those two cars belonged to the Cutrera Brothers who, at the time, owned Ferrari World Magazine/Hyde Park Publishing. I think that is the video (tape) that they produced under the Ferrari World banner.

The white car is 04842. Converted from RHD to LHD. It features in Ferrari World No 12.

The second source said he would have been 100: he was long dead they were celebrating his memory on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. A common occurrence in Italy for persons of notable achievements.

And yes, precision matters. He passed in 1998.

Indeed, but they were celebrating his 'almost' 100 years? Very precise. Now, Carter did die at a few months over the 100th, that , is precise, not avoirdupois.
So we'll have to wait another 100 to re-celebrate. Huh?

Marc, you are quite the doyen on "common occurrence in Italy for persons of notable achievements". Nope, in Italy, the exact 100 are celebrated, not the almost (quasi) 100.

If you die at 99, well.....we'll just round it up a bit. Columbus would be born in 1451 and died in 1506. Quite the issue.

Like, I almost won the Lotto, right.
