beautiful! I love those grass runways.

I attended the largest gathering of spitfires since WW2 at Duxford back in 98. Nothing beats the sound of a spitfire.

Cept for maybe a P-51. I went with my dad (B-17 pilot) in his last year (2003) to an 8th Air Force reunion & took my last photo of him in front of a revving Mustang on the runway at the WWII air show. It was a good day.

very nice pics.... i am an A&P, and seeing those aircraft front that era is like seeing how things "used to be". the simpler things were alot better in some ways!

    Karen,

That's perhaps the warmest reflection i 've ever read on this forum. I'm sure your dad felt the same way. Good on you!

All things considered, the Mustangs and the Spits should sound about the same.... they both have the same Rolls Royce Merlin powerplants...

ANY day involving warbirds is a good day :) Combining that with a lasting memory of your dad in a situation that for him was that extra bit special must have been very special for you.

    Dave

EXCELLENT!!! The Fairey Firefly was always one of my favorites. I liked the secondary enclosed cockpit in the back. Always wanted to build a giant scale model of one of those but never got around to it. I think that I have a small plastic model of one that I picked up at a hobby shop when they were selling off some older stuff from the back room. Must have been a real treat to see that pair roaring down low on the deck!

WOW, those are great pics. They should have the cars race!! Wouldnt want to tear up the grass though. I heard about a ford GT racing a Spitfire. The plane won

I saw that plane too, Brett (mccprivate) gave me the oppurtunity to come along and help out at that show, I got to help push the Fairey Firefly to a sopt where it could start its engine and taxi onto the runway. Very cool expierience indeed.

I love those pics. I would really like to see some old F cars and British cars in there with the planes.
