What stores does this group have besides LONG ISLAND AND LAUDERDALE Palm beach ? Who has Palm beach ?
This was fun. Thanks so much for posting these. The people mentioned here and the mindset of the Shelton family made working there a true privilege.
Glad you guys liked it. I may have more old photos to post. Let me dig through and see what I have. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I met Bud last month at the C&C. He's doing fine. I grew up in South FL in the 60's and 70's. Was this dealership around back then? The name sounds familiar. Thanks for the pics.
It was Paradise Motors owned by Robert Publicker (importer of Inver House Scotch) in the late 50s/early 60s. Then (Robert) Cressman Motors in the 60s and 70s (roughly) and then Cressman-(Philip) Baumgarten Ferrari until Tom and Steve bought it in, what, the mid 1980s?
I think the Sheltons bought the place in the early 80's if I remember correctly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The NART Spyder could be Terry Beye. I remember him also having a 288 GTO, 166 MM, Testarossa and 400. I am thinking his NART is the one that went to Ralph Lauren. He would have some club functions at his house in Ft. Lauderdale. Jeff
Interested to learn more about 348 #62. Fun to know that it raced in Daytona. I wonder where it is now. Cool photos. I visited Shelton after an Champ/CART test in Sebring in the 90s. Very friendly accommodating folks who showed me their race shop and talked racing.
I found some more old Shelton Ferrari photos from the mid-late 90's. Enjoy! Boy, these bring back some memories. I hand painted all of those walls and ceiling banners myself. Made the Ferrari "pylon" on the floor by the reception desk with the help of Mac McBride. Great times. Feels like a lifetime ago.
Really?? That's awesome! The showroom artwork really gave the place a warm, inviting feel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks! I remember working there at night after we closed to paint all the logos on the walls. The banners were the best. Wish I could have got them all after they changed over. They are floating around in someone's garage I'm sure. My favorite part was putting together a giant display case that had all of Tom and Steve Shelton's race trophies, memorabilia, photos etc. What an incredible journey thru history that was. Nicest people I've ever known or worked for. Probably the last of the family owned and run Ferrari dealers in the Nation. Glad I got to experience being part of Ferrari in a time that will never exist again.
Thanks for sharing all of this. Some of my fondest Ferrari memories are from that place. I can still imagine walking around in the old building, in service, the race prep dept, and the back where customer cars were kept. I even remember the original gift shop to the right as you walked in the door. What a wonderful time in Ferrari history that was. The cars were so exciting to see back then. Iconic Ferraris everywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great thread! Thanks, Augustine, as well as the others who posted pics. I agree that the cars seemed more special back then.
