    Hi,
I am doing some work on my old solid axle Corvette this winter to make it more suitable for club light lapping days, autocross and informal rally events with our local sportscar groups.

I'm looking to maintain the period correct look of when the Vettes were fighting with Ferraris at Sebring, etc... 59-62.
I'm sure bolting on a set of modern radials would be simple, but I'm thinking of trying a set of Hoosier TD's, Goodyear Bluestreaks or Firestone 170's for the real effect, along with painted steel wheels or Halibrand style kidney beans.
Does anyone have experience with these tires that can share the pros and cons and how they might drive? Can I likely get 5000 miles out of a race tire like the Hoosier Street TD used in this way?
    Thanks,

    Bill
