I saw this pictorial in the Washington Post today; the burial at Arlington of the remains of two USAF Majors lost over Laos in 1969 in an A-26 Invader. There was a fly-over of a B25, two P-51s,a A-26, and four L-39s. I thought it was pretty crappy that, because of sequestration cuts, the families had to pay for the flyover.

    RIP, at last.

edit; I just read this in one of the comments below the picturial/article:

    "A correction to this story.

The family was NOT forced to pay for the fly over. The Warrior Flight Team donated all the aircraft and the pilots ( veterans themselves) donated their time for this most honorable mission. The families did ask for donations to the fuel fund which was enormous. Regardless our team was performing the fly over whether we had to pay for the fuel ourselves or not. We are humbled and honored that the Sizemore & Andre families allowed our team to be a part and contribute to this most special day.

    Respectfully

Just awesome; thank you, Warrior Flight Team.

Somehow, it seems to me that including the L-39, an aircraft type designed in the Communist era, was rather inappropriate.

Yeah well even more inappropriate is having the military flight teams grounded for this funeral while money is spent advertising food stamps (EBT) in foreign countries.

A retired jet jock who did well enough to afford an L-39, more costly; afford to feed it, would be welcome to perform such a tribute.
