Hello all, I am to visit Dallas as my wifes cousin is getting married this February. I am there for seven days which after visiting relatives etc will leave me around 3-4 days. Other than Six Flags, and some old television series from the 70's LOL I know very little about it. We are staying in Dallas. Any help on places to visit and see for a family, naturally this can include anything remotely to do with cars
Besides LoD I would also see... www.ferrariofdallas.com www.norwoodperformance.com Depending when you are here we might even be having a FCA event.
Here are a few things to see- Dallas Museum of Art Nasher Sculpture Garden Arboreteum Gardens Southern Methodist University including the Meadows Art Museum Dallas City Hall, and the nearby bronze cattle drive. White Rock Lake and Turtle Creek Blvd are good cruising spots. Ft Worth - Kimball Art Museum, New Ft Worth Art Museum , Joe T. Garcia's Mexican Restaurant, Ft Worth Zoo, Texas Motor Speedway, Stockyards
You might be able to get someone to show you Motorsport Ranch in Cresson (Ft Worth side of the MetroMess). Lineback is just down the road from FoD, and is the Panoz dealer
I would definately recommend the Fort Worth Stockyards, especially if you will have the family in tow. Joe T. Garcia's is great.
Haccord, Not knowing your taste in restaurants here is my list for you to try while you are here: Latin American Samba Room 4514 Travis 214 522-4137 Waiter - Skip Italian Ferre Ristorante E Bar 3699 McKinney Ave 214 522-3888 Pan - Asian Steel 3102 Oak Lawn 214 219-9908 Steaks Nick & Sams 3008 Maple 214 871-7444 Nick
Alan that sounds like it might be some sort of Personal Suggestions from Personal Experiences... what did they do to you for swimming in the fountain?
I did Dakota's Restaurant in Lincoln Tower....I think it had a water wall or something.......man, I was just a kid!
I would also suggest the 6th Floor Museum (JFK Museum and site where shot theoretically originated) - my relatives who have visited from the UK have found it to be a very interesting piece of American history similar to our curiosity of the Royal family
Thanks for everything so far. I am looking forward to it, only ever visited Florida to date and we all know what is there. We are there between 11th feb and the 18th. Wedding is the 14th (how sweet) so we won't do much that day . The 19th will most likely be at my wifes Aunt who lives in BurkeBurnette (does that have an e?). As for the rest it looks like I have my time cut out. Just booked a Chrysler 300C or similar according to Dollar anyone driven one before ?
My apologies. It's the 300M that is FWD, the 300C is RWD. I didn't realize that the rental car companies were making the 300C a part of their fleets. It's a relatively new design, and I didn't think that DC was having trouble moving them, so I wouldn't have expected them to be a part of the rental fleets yet. I haven't driven the 300C, but I have heard only good things.
Yeah, the only one I get even subscribe to anymore is Road and Track. And when that comes, I flip to read Peter Egan's column, scan for any Ferrari news, and then put it on the shelf. Becoming a Ferrari fan has screwed up my car-guy mentality. In a good way.
I say Papas Bros. Far superior service and little better food. I would go out at night in the Knox/Henderson area. Tei Tei has excellent Japanese/sushi. Cuba Libre for South American. Mi Cocina for great mexican and lots of beautiful women. Cafe Pacific for very good seafood. Dont even bother with Fort Worth. The Stock Yards are unique but you have to like cattle and country music alot. If you want better food and better entertainment keep going to Houston.
