Going up to colorado this weekend. I am looking for suggestions on things to do this time of year. I don't plan on skiing, as this trip is going to be on the cheap. Any cool art exhibitions or music shows, etc. going on this weekend worth visiting? Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance everybody,
    Ben Heuss

The Rocky Mountain Rod and Custom show is going on at the Western Stock Show Complex (I-70 east of I-25). It is mostly American iron. Last year the Gateway Museum brought a few cars from their collection down. The basement is particularly interesting to me -- the cars there are pre-restored barn finds -- rust buckets that end up getting turned into custom rods.

Thank you for the suggestion, I think we might try to go on Sunday. Do they have a car list? I looked on their website, but couldnt really find much in the way of this information. Also, this might sound like a silly question. but I'm from Texas, and the whole reason for this trip is me and my friend's want to see snow. Is there snow this time of year? Any good national/state parks you would recommend? Also, any locally famous colorado eateries that are resonably priced you would recommend?

Again, thank you for the response, and thanks to any other responses i get,

    Ben Heuss

To see snow.....drive west on I-70 about an hour or so and you should start seeing some. To see more real Colorado terrain with snow, keep driving west take the exit to Loveland ski area and drive up Loveland pass. You will end up in Dillon. From there you can get back onto I70.

To see a nice park and hopefully snow, drive to Estes Park and go into Rocky Mountain National Park. In the summer, you can drive all the way on Trail Ridge Road. You should still see alot in the Park with Trail Ridge closed.

Cars at the show -- i do know exactly what will be there but i can tell you if you like American Muscle and Rods, you will not be dissapointed. They attract cars from different parts of the county for the show.

Local eats -- try the Fort (1st exit west of C470 on US285) or Trail Dust (Western Steak place -- West of I25 between Dry Creek and Arapahoe Road), McCormicks at the Old Oxford Hotel downtown, Old Spagetti Factory (downtown). Walk around Larimer Square downtown -- a few good place there....
